Thanks for all of the good information. I to have a CPAP and would love to start camping away from a power source and extension cord.
Had to bow out of a trout fishing/camping weekend because of no way to power my cpap machine. I too need to find a solution maybe here...

I have camped several times with the CPAP, but always somewhere I could use a 75' extension cord. I have not tried the battery options. I guess it really depends on how remote you want to go. I also worry about crashing and damaging the CPAP. No insurance right now and as most of you know, it's an expensive machine. Not to mention, I'd need a Dr appointment to get a new perscription, and you know they would want a sleep test too, which ran me $3500+ last time.

I recently went to Peru and did a moto tour to Machu Picchu. As usual, traveled with the full CPAP as carry on for the flights. Left the humidifier with the bulk of the luggage and carried it in a small backpack with other gear for the moto tour. Had plug adapters and the CPAP is 220v compatible, so no issues on power in hotels. The moto tour was not camping.

I've accepted that it's going to take up some pannier space. I pack very light for my other needs, so one pannier is just a clothing bag, the CPAP and maybe a book or flask, that's it. The other pannier is the smaller one and is tools, extra visor, compressor, gloves, etc. No top box, (fuel cell and other crap there). I'd love to have that space again, but it's not going to happen until I lose another 50 lbs or more, which I'm working on.

As far as charging a 12v battery for the CPAP, I'm not seeing why you couldn't just have a pig tail off the CPAP battery that you plug into the bike while you're riding. It becomes part of the system and will draw power if it's low, but equalize at the system standard. Sure, you could potentially draw it down if you were loading the bike's electrical system heavily, but that's unlikely for most people.

This is exactly what I did....I put a diode inline to keep the power back feeding to the MC battery, other than that its a straight pigtail with a fuse. Seems to work well and a 9AMPH battery easily lasts one night (no humidifier). I bought the 9AMPH Battery for about $25. A lot less than the commercial Cpap battery setups. yes its heavier but thats not really an issue for me.

Offcamber,

I have had the same issues Snoring stop breathing sleep like crap.
I couldn't breath through my nose at all and being a tad or Tadly over weight didn't help matters, I was told I needed deviated septum surgery.
Now my Septom was a little off from getting sucker punched in High school, never the less I also had Sinus glad obstruction that cut my airway through my nose completely off.
So after the operation two weeks with stints up my sinuses I am a changed person to say the least, I can breath and don't get sick during the winter when the heat is on.
Get in touch with a Ear nose and throat doctor and have him examine you. stopped using my machine I still should use it as I had the mental issue your brain telling your lungs to breath. But I am clearly 99% better.

I used the Resmed 12V. small inverter this past weekend which plugs right into a cigarret lighter. I used the trickle charger during the daytime at a local outlet and all was good by night. Oh, I bought a SHorai for the bike, and took the bike one out to use for the Cpap machine.
