changing spark plugs...

...imagine how FOOLISH, Someone, would feel if he got all the way down in w/ all the necessary things removed and out of the way; gas tank, air filter box w/ wires and that little niggly hose clamp in the not-so-easy-to-reach underneath middle, clamps to the throttle bodies... all in preparation to change the spark plugs, BEFORE, he realized there are FOUR spark plugs(two per cylinder) and NOT just the two plugs he had purchased, like in days of yore. And to add insult to injury it would be late on Saturday and parts place was closed, so he couldn’t get two more plugs in preparation for a long ride scheduled early on the very next day! ;o( So after all that, the guy, didn’t get his plugs changed. He, prolly feels like a putz. ::002::

I’m NOT saying that I DID this, but, at least I did get the air filter changed out b4 putting all that stuff back together. ::025::

And another good thing that often comes from missteps like this is that at least my 17yo son was helping so he could witness the fiasco, and absolutely relish the moment. iykwim ::013::

I do now vaguely remember hearing 4 vs. 2 plugs somewhere, but did not read it in the dang service manual.

Live and learn. Just sayin.

Did the guy at least put the two new plugs in. Two are better than none I guess. ::010::

If it makes you feel any better, I know a police motor officer, I am not saying it was me, who dumped his 700 pound duty bike today while backing it up a slope after doing a demo for a group of kids. Dumped it in front of the kids too. I am not saying it was me, but we are all dumb bother.

Thanks for making me feel I am not the only one who does dumb things. ::018::

Yeah, Welcome to the club brother. ::003::

Your sig line is Quite apropos - "It's better to remain silent and be considered a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." I guess I opened my mouth. :D

Nice to be on a bike for 'Work' man. C:) Thanks for all you do and for working with the kids, like w/ Scouts, great stuff. I bet the kids got a kick outa that trick you pulled, that was Just so you could Show them how to lift a bike, right. :)) Kids will prolly remember it fondly.

I couldn't get any traction and the slope was greater than I thought. I am only 5'7" so it's hard to push the Concours back and up hill for me. I jumped off and grabbed the handle bars and pulled straight back. My legs were spent from pushing it back 30 yards already. I dipped my head slightly when I pulled and down she went. A VERY slow motion fall as I tried to keep her up. The Concours is VERY top heavy and very unforgiving . In hindsight I should have put it on the center stand and spun it 180 from the get go and rode it out. Hindsight number two was I should have put the kick stand down when trying to pull the bike backward while off it. The kick stand would have kept her upright when it went over. Every motor drops his bike in embarrassing moments.
