Camping Jennings Randolph Lake, Elk Garden, WV June 17-19

As many here know, Rmoney Cycles is hosting a Yamaha demo on the new line, i.e. the S10!! on June 17-18. I am going to camp at nearby Jennings Randolph Lake and bug the Yamaha folks in a proper fashion.

Personally, I will be leaving home on the morning of Thurs June 16 and plan to be in Romney at the opening bell on Fri morning and plan to return home on Mon June 20.

I have camped at JR Lake several times and it offers top notch facilities and the area riding is superb. There will likely be a few fellow FJR idgits tagging along too.

Anyone interested in a camp-n-ride?

8 hours and change from Louisville...and the closest it will be to me this year (until I ride it home from the dealer, that is...). It will be in Indy end of Aug, on Display?!?!...who wants to look at it?

I might join you....though I was kind of planning that weekend to ride along the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Mtns, rather than hang out at a dealership...and I may have to stay in Minn for work.

I have to travel 4-5 hours north to get to the Lake. See no reason I could not first swing west and meet you somewhere. We could hit some good riding on the way up. Maybe do one morning at the dealer and ride the rest of the weekend. You will not want for good roads or scenery that rivals all the Blue Ridge has to offer nor would you likely be short on willing riding company.

I'm planning to be at Romney first thing Friday, but leaving after work (in DC) on Thursday with a plan to camp somewhere near Romney. Elk Garden is an hour PAST Romney, so not sure if I'll make it before the deer come out to play. If I get a good run out of town, maybe... otherwise I'll see you guys at Romney Cycles Friday morning. I'll be on the silver Strom.

Brandywine campground on Rt 33 is just over the hill on your side of the planet from Romney. But I'm bettin' you already knew that.

JR Lake is hard to beat though. If you get a jump on things, come on over. I 'spect you will find a coldun and a pot luck supper with your name on it. And you are more than welcome to ride with us on Sat if that is a fit.

Otherwise I'll see ya Fri. morning. I be on the blue FJR in with the rest of the herd (though some are not going to make it later on Fri).

I keep coming back to this thread wishing the timing would have worked out for me. Spklbuk, let me know when your next outing is around that area.

Good luck with the demo days and take some pics of the camping activities as well as the demo rides.

I spent the week at JR Lake camping and riding my FJR. Rained a lot (read nearly every morning and evening...even packed up this morning in the rain) while we were in camp and no one took many pics. I'll post up some pics of some of what we encountered while riding soon. Fantastic week! 2 demo rides on the S10 included.
