The difference in cost between your local dealer's best offer and the better long-distance offers can be quite significant. In my area, on a new model of bike, it's strictly MSRP+F/S on a new/ordered model. And I can usually finance the flight using freq flyer miles. So the economics can be favorable.
But that's not the main attraction for me. The attraction is the chance to do a one-way, long-distance trip in which all you do for a week or more is get to know one's new motorcycle. The S10 is a touring bike and I am going to want to take a long tour very soon after I buy it anyway. Why not do this tour picking the bike up?
