I've been pretty happy with the wear of the Metzeler Tourance on my S10 - 7K miles to the rear wear bars, with another 2K-3K in the front - but I'd bought a set of Michelin Road Pilot 4 Trail last summer and decided to finally get them spooned on yesterday. The front Tourance was cupped enough to make low speed hard surface maneuvering a bit wobbly, but other than that the tires did a great job on mostly pavement. The rear was squared off, as they do, but that never changed the tip-in feel during spirited cornering. I didn't run track days with them, but I did enjoy the twisties from time to time and they stuck well enough for my needs.

These were the original Tourance's, by the way - not the EXP or Next.

::026:: Just what I was going to ask. I LOVED the original made in Germany Tourance tires and got good mileage... like 6,300 miles. HOWEVER, the made in China Tourance's were crap! 4,000 miles at the best AND they didn't handle anywhere as good. So since all that is available now are the made in China Tourance tires I stopped using them!
I've got a set of Continental TKC70's on now that after ~ 1,500 miles I REALLY like them! Fun tire in the curves! No I haven't had them on the gravel yet.

Was the rear Tourance made in Germany or China?

I just took a rear Tourance off my ST and I couldn't wait for it to wear out, got about 7000km out of it. It would break traction coming out of corners lock up way too easy under braking, and would move around on uneven/rough corners, I didn't like anything about it, I wont be buying another, I replaced it with a Pirelli SCORPIO TRAIL because that's all the bike shop had,
WOW what a difference, scraped the pegs on the first day out with it on ::26:: I hope they are as good off road
