So I took a call from my boss.
'Get over here and have breakfast with me'.... he says
He's in Fort Hood I'm in deepest Europe ??? That was a month ago. They got me on the jump seat of a mil transport ... red eye job. Have steak n eggs with the brass. Nice.
'I need a favour' .... he says
Turns out we're to evaluate a plethora of new fangled war fighting stuff. Cutting edge kit that might not even exist yet :-X
'You're going to some rough places' ... Great, how rough. 'Never gets above -30 at this time of the year' Fantastic, when? 'Now'
We spend two weeks living in ice caverns ... definitely different. It's cold, too damn cold. I ain't built for this sh*t!
We destroy just about everything we get our hands on .... well they said test to destruction ... that means break and or melt it in my books >:D
We're then picked up by 'Special Transport' and taken to a desert which is +40 and up .... ridiculous we say.
'OK break this lot' ... they say
Here we go again .... same routine as previous but this time we're hot, too damn hot. I ain't built for this sh*t either!

Between us we've had frost bite and heat stroke all in the space of a couple of weeks. We've certainly burned up a lot and I mean a lot of US$$$$$$$ worth of stuff. I love my job and I can tell ya ... you do not want to be the bad guys. Although I do need to find out just exactly who they are these days ... oh yeah that's right it's everyone who don't do what we say, when we say ... how can I forget simple rules like that.

I wasn't allowed to take a bike but I've made up for it since ... just been to France on the Tenere. I've seen the Normandy landing beaches. Been to Dunkirk. Visited a few of the war graves. All powerful stuff and very thought provoking.
We're now planning our next excursion to the Black Forest in Germany .... sounds funky. Roads look awsome around there. Can't wait.
It seems to be raining non stop in Europe right now .... Oh yeah, I've also been invited to a shoot on the 'Gloroius Twelfth' ... something to do with Grouse, plus fours and Purdy's. Don't ask me ... it's these British ... they have a love of 'occassion' .... and I'm up for a bit of that ::008::

Damn, don't know what to say...sounds awesome minus the temperature swings.

As for grouse, they're fast little buggers. Maybe you should bring some of that "nonexistant" kit just to ensure a good round? 8)

Yeah you could. They stroke us a lot and tell us we're the best in the business. We're just willing grunts. We ain't too smart ... but we do like to play hard. The serious side of what we do ultimately saves lives so we're real keen to get it done.

Oh yeah! I have a couple of buddies whose sons served in Iraq and Afghanistan, both captains, one Army, on Marine, and they're both superb kids. ::008::
