It's been unseasonably warm and dry here, but September is forecast to arrive Wednesday night and the fall color is finally setting in, so it's time to ride while the riding is good. After a morning catching up on errands we made it out for a quick ride late this afternoon. This is the first I've posted here from Big Cottonwood Canyon, but I expect you will eventually see it in all it's seasons. Fall is certainly not a bad time to start. The wife wasn't up for a lot of stops, so I may try to get out again and make some stream images in the next few days. Today just aspen. Singular I think... aspen grow in great thickets from a single root mass. The trees are like blades of grass growing from a single organism.

The obligatory bike shot. We rode the dual sports.

On the north slope of the canyon, the aspen caught some last sun against a steely sky.

As shadow advanced across the valley floor.

One more just for grins. :)

As always, you can right click the images and choose "view image" to see the original size in Firefox.

The lower canyon has finally started to turn.

WTF? Dang, how did that get in here?

Well, I did ride the S10 up Thursday, but the aspens were past prime, and the lower canyon was still green. No pics.

Last weekend we did a few stream shots but went up in the truck.... I guess it's ok to post a few shots....

and up near the pass:

That's long gone now, as we hit 80 F today, here in the valley.

...and looks like I never posted these... was on the S10 for these, October 3:

I did say you might see a lot of Big Cottonwood Canyon. We also have Little Cottonwood Canyon, East Canyon, Millcreek Canyon, American Fork Canyon..... and a few others... accessible from the valley here. But Big Cottonwood is closest.
