I just picked up my new ST at the dealer yesterday and I’m dying to get panniers straight away. I was turned off by the OEM stuff because of the plastic mounts and aluminum exterior (I think it would dent easily). I would appreciate any advice here. I've followed this forum for a little while and it everyone seems to be spot-on with their advice and tech so if there is a resounding choice for the Tenere then I would love to hear it. Otherwise the plan was to hit the bike show and believe the hype......ugggg

Congrats on the new bike.

I try not to be the one that says "use the search", but in this case, it really is the best advice. There are three or four major threads on this forum which discuss the pros/cons of the various pannier systems for page after page.

Thanks Mark!

Good call, I will give that a go. Considering the myriad of designs and styles I’m not surprised the discussions go on forever.

I have the OEM cases and they've been good so far, today I think I would go with the Holan panniers if I could find them.

Hi all - I've read the rules and think this post is okay, but please advise if not.

I'm happy to announce that Holan is back in North America. :) I signed on as their distributor last month and will be stocking many of their best selling parts, including the Nomada Pro pannier systems for the Super Tenere. Our first two orders ship out from Poland this week (including four Super Tenere systems, all pre-sold!), and I will be placing an additional order to keep inventory on hand within the next 2-3 weeks.

If you have any questions or would like more info, please feel free to contact me via PM or via our website at www.advmotorrad.com.

Thanks!

The OEM's surprisingly don't dent as easily as you think. I had mine on it's side in a rocky road a few weeks ago and it didn't dent the one it was laying on. Sad to say, my confidence was dented pretty good for awhile. :))

I'm partial to the Happy Trails. Ugly as sin, very industrial. I find them very attractive in their functional simplicity. The powdercoat is tough as nails so far. Fairly inexpensive as hard panniers go and if you sign up for their mailing list they frequently have E-Coupons or specials that are not available on their site (I can message you the codes for this months specials if you want them). The best part was the superb customer service. Some excellent people to work with ::008::. I got mine for just under $800 shipped. Come to think of it, they look a lot like some of the Holans.

Very Happy with Micatech side cases, had them on some long wet trips, contents stayed dry, like the side opening doors and ability to tie things on top and still access bag contents easily.

second for micatechs. By far the best I have owned. Very smooth finish, solid doors and locks, can use key or keep unlocked, can load gear on top, has deep bottom to hold gear in box, one bolt for fast removal, 4 position mounts. Rock solid company, rock solid product.

I'm in the Jesse camp; love the utility and security. I've bought three sets now...which I guess reflects my satisfaction with their product.

Look for the features and pricing you like, search on those brands and go from there.

In no particular order, (and certainly not a full list):

Jesse
Holan
Touratech Zega Pros
Happy Trails
Traxx
Micatech
Givi

Most are top opening, some side, Micatech are semi-side opening. Think about how you use them, what you put in them and what kind of riding you do. Remember to think about how low the cases go, and if you are solo or two up, as paddling the S10 with really deep saddle bags can be... interesting. Especially off pavement. Some of us are minimalists, others pack it all baby!
