Hey All
Usually just a lurker but since not much to do, no bike and most farkles have been ordered..... the wife asked me how she is going to go for a ride with no backrest ?
I did some checking and looks like no one is making a dedicated backrest for the Tenere yet......
So I figured I'll be getting the Alt Rider rack, now I need a backrest to attach to it..... there are some very expensive options out there, but they all would required some modifications also.
So here's what I'm gonna try - I'm gonna get the Alt rider rack http://www.altrider.com/altrider-luggage-rack-for-yamaha-super-tenere-xt1200z/pcid/625-1and I ordered the Givi scooter backrest for the Piaggio Beverly TB104 http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productprint/3952/727/ now to match these all up with the bike and I think the wife will be happy. :lamp:

You may want to hang on Duane from Premier Cycle Accessories is working on a prototype backrest for the S10.

If someone finds one, and it is specifically made to fit the S10, I'm in.

I might like one for myself for them long rides, but easy to remove when it is needed out of the way.

I would hold off also. We still have a little time to see who is going to make whatever aftermarket accessories. ;)

How about the top box? Can't it be padded and/or leaned against?

Just in case any of the after-market guys are reading this thread, I'll definitely be buying the first backrest made to fit the S10. My wife won't ride without one (she thinks I'll wheelie her off the back). LOL

My wife is the same way about having something back there to keep her from falling off. In our case, it has always been a tail trunk. I am envious of those couples that ride that almost look to be one person. Even though my wife is a good pillion, I always know she is back there. :)

Just to reassure her, you could get a patch made up for the back of your jacket:

"If you can read this, I've lost my pillion"
