I ride them: about 12000 kms on rear tire life, 15000 kms on front tire life, maybe a couple thousand more if my head math is off. Would have to dig through invoices to check. Replaced the stock tires at 10000 kms, have run two sets so far, still on second set, have 37500 on Tenere. Used to run them when I had a VTX 1800.

The tires are stable and confidence inspiring, in all conditions. The Tenere is far more competent then I am and I think the Avons add to that.
The ride is smooth and I have never felt I was pushing outside my zone.

But this is only my opinion, many others will differ, I am only saying what is working well for me. Like everything else, if you don't like something, wear it out and replace it. Otherwise, two thumbs up from me.....

I have many kilometers on Avon Distanzias on several bikes. On a r 1150 gs adv, on a r 1200 gs and on a f 650gs. Today I went to the avon dealer to buy a pair for my S10. First tire change, and it will be to Avon Distanzias.
To me, they do very well on gravel roads and a have a superb grip on tarmac. Never missed a turn. However, since they are made of a pretty soft compound I doubt they last as much as the oem Metzeler . Actually, the oem exp are most long lasting tires I have ever had. They have over 12 000 kilometers and still have 2000 km more.
Avon Distanzias are an excellent choice, no doubt it!!!!

My girlfriend burned thru a rear Distanzia in 5,000 miles riding from Houston to Dawson City last summer on a Versys; it runs the same size rear as we do. Yes, we were heavy loaded...but for a "distance" tire it seemed unimpressive. We put on a Trail Attack in Dawson, rode the Dempster, and she got new shoes at Yukon Yamaha in Whitehorse on the way back south. I mounted the Trail Attack on the T along with my new K60 front; it's dead now with 5,000 heavy-loaded miles. Anyway, she liked her Scorpion Syncs better for wet and dry traction, and got better mileage commuting on Houston's freeways - they're no longer available and she's going to PR3s after our spring dual sport rally. Best of luck...OH: When I took off my Battlewings at 6200 miles, I felt they had another thousand in 'em.

The Kawa Versys does not run the same rear tire as the S10. And the avon distanzia that fits the versys is made for supermotard. That means a softer compound and therefore a shorter life.
