Anyone use Dry Bags ?

So am looking to get a dry bag to strap to the back of my bike - anyone uas eone if so what etc ?
I am not into panniers - can't understand why so many bikes have them fitted to a bike that only goes out at the weekend on a local ride for a few hours and rides around with them empty (fully get get that lots of you guys use them to actualy go places) ...am in the Military and have lived all round the world out of a bag and use alot of the Mountain Equipment / North Face Duffels as they are very hard wearing but not waterproof and a dry bag inner is a pain in the arse.
Have been looking at the Givi 40L (WP40) and think thats a good bit of kit and also the Kappa 50L (made by Givi but under the Kappa brand and thicker tarp material). Weirdly they both have vurtualiy identical dimetions yet claim to be 10L different ...
40L looks ok but am after a 50L or 60L bag. Most non motorcycle ones don't have any where to strap them down and weirdly most motorcycle specific ones don't have many tie down points either (come on manufacturers - need tie down points to fix the bloody thing to the bike ....)

So what do you guys use ? Price is a factor ie the Givi is about£54 where as a Touratek branded Ortleeb 50L is £97.

I have the Nelson Riggs 40L bag. It fts perfect on the iS10 with the rear seat removed. This is half the price of the Wolfman/Givi bags. I've had my hands on each bag and it is equal quality. You can get a less obnoxious color but that one matches my hi-vis jacket. ::001::

Like this configuration. I have a different dry bag but have traveled with it inline plus the OEM side cases.

I picked up a dry bag at REI (forget the brand), and used Rok Straps to secure it to the bike. Had no issues riding to Colorado and back that way.

I am like you on the looks side much prefer a dry bag to panniers but can see why folk have them. I bought a Overboard 40litre classic for £35 in New Year sales does stay dry and can carry a nice load but if I was planning a extended break I would go larger capacity.

I've used a dry bag with Roc Straps on various bike for years. Also panniers with liners for longer trips.

I use a large Duffell made for a Quad and Rox straps to tie it down. Keeps everything dry as it should.

I have been using Kriega bags for the past five years and they work very well for me. They are bit pricey but excellent quality.

There are a lot of threads to search dry bags. Eemsreno recommended a waterproof bag after buying a Tenere so I bought 3 of them. Separate different things like camping gear, clothes, extras for the trip like air compressor and such. Picked them up at Walmart. The colors come close to matching the bike. I do use panniers a lot for work and like hard boxes for taking product to/from vendors and customers as well as tools to job sites. Also like the boxes when my wife goes along, maybe someday that will change, it just works for now.
