Hi folks. Prospective Super T owner here, from Ottawa, Ontario in Canada.

I'm considering buying a brand-new 2013 as a two-up, commuter and touring platform.

I'd appreciate feedback on this particular year; from what i've read so far, the biggest complaints / issues seem to be on the off-road side of the bike's performance. Other than fire-roads I don't anticipate being off road (unless I blow an apex!!)

As a tall sport bike guy with a bad back, I really like the ergos of this bike but i've yet to ride one.

appreciate hearing about the good, the bad and the ugly from owners before I commit to buying this :)

Cheers,

Joe

Welcome aboard! The 2012-2013 bikes are basically identical, with the 2014-2015 models having some significant upgrades. I'm not sure where you've been reading, but it is amazing what this bike can do off road (this is my first 2 wheeler that I take off road, all my previous experience has been on ATCs and quads), so much so that many here consider this the World's Largest Dirt Bike. There are a few minor issues, or quirks, and may not be present on all bikes; there was a recall for the headlight wiring harness, many here have changed the clutch basket on their 12 and 13 models to the updated 14 version, and the CCT may need to be replaced at or before the 52K mile valve check interval. Reflashing the ECU is also popular to take care of some fueling issues and factory power restrictions in the first 3 gears. For the majority here, this bike has been one to farkle and ride, and almost every member here would recommend the bike to a friend!

Hi Ottawa Joe,
Simple really, can't go wrong with either generation.
Buy the 2011-2013, at a deep discount, and upgrade the clutch basket, flash ecu

Or buy a 2014/2015 ES, or non ES and ride the crap out of it, with zero changes needed. They were punting out 2014 ES models at the Calgary Show for $15 OTD

Off road?

Unless it's Orange, you ain't catching a Tenere off road on any other Big Pig ADV bike.
It IS the biggest dirtbike in the world! (after you mount some Big Blocks, of course)

But even if you never go off road, it's a fantastic 2-up packmule. That I can promise. :)

Hello and welcome, Joe. ::026:: on what everyone has said so far in this string. I have a 2012 and have had the headlight harness recall done, installed the upgraded clutch basket (incredible how it smooths out the beast) and replaced the cam chain tensioner, as it was making a bit of noise on cold start ups. It is an incredible bike, and I recommend it highly.

Cheers,

Bruce
