I’m a relatively new rider. I’ve done a trip from Montana to Michigan and back on pavement, off highway, and I play around in my backyard in SW Montana, but I’m interested in some more “training”. I’m competent as an individual (pilot, scuba diver, builder, traveler) and am looking for a program that doesn’t pander, if that makes sense. I’ve looked at Dragoo but always welcome suggestions from this capable crowd. Thank you!!

Well, I haven’t personally used Ride ADV training, but I have watched nearly their entire YouTube video catalog. They seem very organized and thorough.

Also, they have two training locations:
Bend, Oregon
Las Vegas, Nevada

Happy riding!

Also, here is an excerpt from RideADV’s website about the free video training they offer on YouTube. You may want to watch these to decide if they match your learning style/riding goals:

Becoming a Better Off-Road Rider

Many of the techniques and skills we work on in our ADV Training courses may be familiar to you, as shown in our Adventure Motorcycle Training Series on YouTube:

  • When and Why You Should Stand while riding an ADV Motorcycle - Our ADV Training courses reveal when and why a rider may choose to sit or stand. There are reasons for and against each, and riders can review with our Instructors what might be best in real ADV riding scenarios.
  • 6 Essential Riding Techniques - From the simple, useful, and fun little moves we make, from pressuring the foot pegs, to floating the front wheel, and "steering with your rear," lets drill on some fundamentals that will help you for a lifetime of safe and fun riding ahead.
  • 4 Ways to Turn Your Adventure Motorcycle Around - Whether you have plenty of time available, or a hungry bear is about to charge, the combination of what we work on during training will help make sure you can get your bike headed the opposite direction.
  • How to "Bounce" Your Adventure Bike - Almost nothing gets in your way when the right timing, traction, suspension dynamics, and body movements are considered properly in anticipation of what lies ahead. Bringing all this together requires solid fundamentals, so let's make sure yours are sharp.
  • Mastering Hill climbs - The most fun aspect of riding for many of us, don't get turned around by forgetting "your 2 best friends" on every hill climb. We'll make sure you can conquer what your bike is capable of.
I hope this helps:)

I'm also a huge fan of Cassie, the owner of Clear Moto. she broke off from West38Moto a year or so ago and started her own company. Cassie has that special ability to coach you live while riding, she is really good.

We have had a professional instructor who puts on a day class at the Romney WV Camp N Ride events, which this year will be in early May. As you can see in this shot from last year there were at least two Super Tens.

I've reached out to Alain to make sure he can do it again.
