I was in France and after work, I got to spend about an hour with two Euro First Edition bikes last week. I was specifically looking for differences between the American and Euro bikes, even taking a cardboard tracing of my seat's profile. (a side silhouette view)

Turns out that I didn't need the cardboard profile, as my immediate reaction to sitting on the non-US bike made it VERY clear that the only differences are the seat cover and the part number. The cardboard just confirmed that the US and EU base and foam shape are identical.

If you really need the side of your US bike to be silver-gray, yes you could order a cover and pay through the nose for it. But I'm not even going to post a part number as it'd be cost prohibitive. Simply take your seat to almost any upholstery shop and pay a fraction of what ordering a vinyl OEM cover would cost to go from Japan, to Europe, to the US.

Having silver-grey sides will NOT make it any more comfortable!!!!

I'm saving my money for a Sargent saddle.

I've lost close to 35 lbs since purchasing the S10, and the stock seat is getting more comfortable everyday. In my case it was more fat ass than candy ass. ::013::

That's one way to prune some weight off the bike...! Well done.

Thanks. About another 40lbs to go! Planning a trip to Africa and figure the lighter I am the easier the trip.

Mark,

Congrats on the weight loss. Eleven years ago I lost 45 lbs and have managed to keep it off. Dieting is no fun but it is worth the effort. Keep up the good work!

+1 on the loose weight. I lost 8 lbs on my 3500 mile trip couple weeks ago. I walked in the mornings a couple of miles and only ate breakfast and one other meal. Plus being on the bike kept me from eating snacks all day. Eating small portions and no second helpings helps at home, now I just have to keep it up.
