Hi Guys,New berth required,

Just popped in to introduce myself,

Before I go on a little history on my bike buying and owning habits.

Passed my test in 1978 on a RD 250 B and it goes like this.

RD 359 B mullered by a teacher I'm in hospital twice
Suzuki X7 possibly the worst bike I have ever ridden and owned
CB 900 F
GPz 750 Turbo
GPZ 600
CBX 750
RD 350 LC N
VF 1000
RD 350 LC F2
VFR 750 F (Gear driven cams etc)
TDR 250
FZS 600
FZ 6
FZ 1000
FZ1
Hyabusa GSX RK3 stealth
ZZR 1400
VFR 1200 (Currently in the workshop awaiting an engine)
Honda VTR 1000 SP2 (Curent)
XT 1200Z Super Tenere on order
The reason I got back into the two bike ownership deal is because the VFR is so good at doing to be honest anything you want it to, its well a bit too accomplished and therefore dare I say it, for me un-engaging, I have not connected with the bike at all .

So I sought a mint K2 with barely 5000 miles on the clock to allow me some indulgence in the bends, the additional benefit was being able to lay spanner on it without the intrusion of electronics to get in the way. However I loved stripping it down to the bone and sorting it down to balancing the throttle bodies and so on and so forth.

When riding it was fun but hey I'm 50 now and it was fun and feisty but a little too flighty if you take my meaning?

Chopped that for a SP2,its in the garage and in the process of being rebuilt after a total non-faithful restoration.

However pulled the VFR out of hibernation yesterday fired it up and after a while on tick over thought, that doesn’t sound right to me! Went for a short ride to Whitby and back to Middlesbrough area and when I slowed down in traffic noticed a really horrible mechanical sound coming from the right hand side of the engine.
This was so pronounced that today I rode to work on and had to keep it below 300 rpm.

Phoned the dealers and no worries bring it in and no they would not have a service bike for me to take and find my way home etc. When I pulled up at the dealers there was the owner and a mechanic at the workshop door as I pulled up. The owner who I have known for 30 years enquired about the issue and asked how I was getting home, I replied 2 busses Pete.

He said no way we always say that the bikes need to be in the shop overnight unless we know and trust ppl, having had their fingers burnt on more than one occasion and that I was to hand my keys into the service desk and he would sort me a ride home. Did that and he did this:

Good grief what an improvement on the 09 model. My first impression bearing in mind that it has 220 miles on the clock is the torque from, well tick over really and the fuelling is exceptional.
Well I received a phone call from the dealers stating that a new engine will be despatched from Japan tomorrow which should arrive on Monday.

TBH I really don’t think I want it back I have never had a bike that left me feeling so cold about it, but I can’t for the life of me think why.

It is one of the most immaculately put together, finished bikes that I have ever owned. It does everything so well it’s for me un engaging in the ride experience. I only covered 2400 miles on it all long distance and it did what I asked of it until it went a bit sick.

So what to do now?

I bought a Super Tenere with some extras. ;D i pick it up on the 1st of May. Had the chance to ride the owners bike for a few days but where I live in the north of England, these last few weeks a boat would have been more appropriate :(.
After extensive research on the web and in particular this forum, recommendations from the boss of the dealer which I have know and dealt with for the last 30 years I thought bollocks take the plunge and did just that.
Regards
PyRo

Welcome on, PyRo from England. You've been a busy boy with all those bikes. You'll only need the the Tenere .. well, and maybe one more.

Congrats. ::004:: R. ::022::
