3 T's, and a few Windmills, er, Wind Generators...

On a bit of a whim (18 hours notice to me counts as a whim), Yamaguy55, Koinz, and myself managed to meet up for a Saturday ride. Since the rest of the weekend looked so iffy as far as weather, we were all motivated to get out for a spin.

We met at Heisler's Dairy in Tamaqua, grabbed lunch and an ice cream. I'd met Yamaguy55 a few weeks back in person, but this was my first time meting Koinz. After settling down, he opened with what I believe is my favorite question, "So, why is it that the guy who runs the Super Tenere forum doesn't have a Super Tenere?" I'll have to let Koinz chime in, but I threw what I think is becoming my normal spiel about this topic (Yamaguy55 asked the same thing the day after I met him, he's a bit soft spoken I guess :D ), which is basically, "It's coming." After lunch we saddled up and Koinz and I proceeded to chase Yamaguy55 over a bunch of roads in PA. Our first stop:

There is a wind generator farm (found out from Koinz that the insiders don't appreciate the term "windmill" ;) ) on a ridge right off of 329 so we stopped for a close up look. At the very bottom of the wind mill (screw it, "generator" is too long a word) is a man door, so you can get an idea of how big these things are.

Other shots of us taking a breather:

Next up Yamaguy55 led us to an old abandoned railroad bridge a bit off the beaten path. I don't have a wide angle view of the bridge, but it's basically a drop-off that if you don't see coming will really ruin your day. He's a shot overlooking the chasm (that's a blue helmet down there, not one of ours thankfully):

Yamaguy55 and Koinz running away from the bridge in fear:

[smg id=603]

Hey, is that three Teneres lined up? Oh, no, not really :-[.

[smg id=606]

Last shot that I have, Koinz and Myself posing with the red-headed stepchild of the group. I have to start drinking more beer or something, looking kind of thin. Stupid jogging regimen will do that to you.

[smg id=605]

That's pretty much it. After we left the bridge we all split up. I found that the 3 mile jaunt on the dirt road back from the bridge jarred my right mirror extender loose (didn't loctite it, stupid) so I had to ride home with a gimpy right mirror since I didn't have the right tool on me to tighten it.

It was a great ride with great guys. I was riding 3rd and I found myself chasing the Teneres more than once through the twisties Officially I'm blaming it on my top-box and the higher center of gravity. ;)

Yamaguy55, Koinz, feel free to chime in. Good riding with you guys. I hope more of us from the forum can meet up for rides in the future.

You covered it to the tee Chris. I'm glad I was able to make it considering my morning. When Fred (yamaguy55) called me I was at the local Walmart getting tires put on my wifes van. He set a time to meet and I was determined to meet it, but first I had to replace the Toilet float at the house. Got it replaced pretty quickly until I noticed a leak at the water inlet. Damn  so I had to run out to the local Hardware store and pick up a new compression fitting. 1/2 hour later I was done.
I think it was getting on 10:45 AM and we were supposed to meet around 11:30 and not knowing how far the Dairy was, I got changed and headed out. Surprisingly, I was the first there. Yamaguy is a smart man, he knew I was the closest, but I was running late so he gave me the extra time. Thanks Fred.

Oh, Chris - you stay thin and I'll lose some weight. ::012::

Good Ride, We'll have to do it again...and again....and again... ::012:: ::012::

So why didn't you?

It was a great ride. If we had the time, I was going to drag them over to Bald Eagle, and they could enjoy the rock gardens over there.

Nothing like a State Forest to meet all the adventurous types on a holiday weekend. probably good they didn't go. I went yesterday, but that's a wholenuther (is that a word?) story.

I'm finding the Tenere is almost ideal for the back roads around here, which are very rough, and getting rougher with the budget constraints.

As far as a Tiger standing in at a Tenere outing: They let me come; they will obviously let anyone! ::025::

So Venture, Did they let you test ride one of them Teneres?
Not that day. There is an offer on the table though, just haven't taken it up yet. Maybe next time.

He hasn't asked. But if he's a good egg and promises to seek help for his indecision, and doesn't drop it, he can try mine. He can try my WRR as well. ::018::

Why didn't I ask? There are some questions you just don't ask your "boss"!

I thought that didn't apply when the position paid zero? :D Or are you hoping for a promotion to Administrator one of these days? ;)

Me not having a Tenere is no big secret. It IS my next bike, the timing is just a bit off for a number of reasons. I'm a patient man, all in good time.

Ha, I can relate to the "timing being off" as this has been a crazy year for me and having a new bike.

Zero? And here I thought we were getting paid!!! ::015::
