I'm sure it is a great bike but there is no way I would have two bikes that meet basically the exact same needs.
Sorta my thoughts too - too close in overall purpose to the S10. If I wanted a companion 2nd adventure bike to my S10, it would be a single, probably a KLR.

yea its cool lookin but 6.3g for gas why not 7 and if the tank is in the back whats underneath all the front?
like the s-10 if it has 6.3 you can prolly only put 5.8 in it.

Anyone know why they dont make anything shaft drive under a 1000cc any manufacturer i mean.
Main reason i bought s-10 was shaft drive with low maintance for whole bike
i dont feel that i really need 1200 cc for that
why dont they make a 900cc shaft bike? does a shaft rob that much power?
insurance companys thing that just cause it has over 1000cc it must be a saturn V rocket and you gonna die on the first ride =/

::026:: and the cost of a BMW makes it prohibitive. I think a second bike would be a KLR (as if I really need another one!)

Funny thing is many bikes were shafts, that were under a 1,000cc for a long time. I had an 84 Honda VT500 Ascot that was 500cc and a shaft drive. The same motor was used on the 500 shawdow, so it was a shaft too. One of my earlier bikes was an '81 GS650L, which was a shaft. Then I had a few PC800's (89 and 96). Probably the epitome of a maintenance free bike (hydraulic lifters and shaft drive). There were a lot of bikes in the '80's and into the 90's that were smaller displacements and shaft drives. Even some of the earlier Honda Nighthawks were shaft drive.

Simply looking for a bike for my little lady,
...so she can carry her own crap and keep up with me.

The only BMW I would ever buy is the S1000rr or HP4...
...and this beast is too much for her.
