I've been debating which bike to buy for a while now. GS, explorer or Yam S10. I have been leaning towards the yamaha and I have been checking out the used market. I could stretch to a 2011 model with 5 to 10k miles.

By chance, SWMBO told me that a local yamaha dealer in Northampton was having a one day cost sale. We drove over with the intention of looking for a ride for her, but I spotted a black super tenere in the showroom. As I hadn't tried one for size, a had a sit. It fitted my 6' 2" frame really well. I wouldn't have been able to afford this new bike, but the salesman told me of their one day only price, and it was £2500 under list price on the road. Well it was a bit of a no brainer really. A brand new bike for less than a used one. He gave me a good price on my part ex as well.

I couldn't help it, and ordered the touring pack as well, and was given £600 off of that too. So all in all a saving of £3100 ukp. I am really happy with that.

I am looking to tour Scotland and France this year, as well as many trips to he coast.

I am waiting until 1st March and he new reg letter to pick up the bike. 2 weeks of anticipation :-[

So I will be spending plenty of time on here catching up with all of the info and stories from you guys.

Welcome on, Scuff. Sounds like you scored a great bike at a great price ... I'm sure about the bike, anyway. I have about 6 weeks before I can ride my new Tenere (wrecked the first one). Still got three feet of snow here. ::009:: Anyway, well done, and ::004:: to the Forum. Let us know when you get him in your stable. R ::022::

Hi Scuff and welcome,

I too got the Super Ten bug after looking at the GS, etc. and although my new white one is now in my garage (got her delivered by van), I can't use her until this Friday the 1st, with her new registration plate.

At least I have a couple of days now to fit a few extras I bought, since ordering her.

This forum is great, I've learned so much about everything S10 and more! ::26::

I'm also considering Scotland, Ireland, France and perhaps beyond this year, so may cross paths sometime.

Hi Tiggy

I moved up to Northants from Guildford a few years back.

I've got a few bits to fit to mine when I get it home - a Touratech adjustable screen and a tomtom rider GPS mount, a set of givi crash bars, a fender extender and an optimate charging lead.

Just hoping it will warm up a little by then. Today's ride on my BeeEm was bl@@dy freezing and it took a while to scrub the salt off of the bike when I got back.

Well Scruff, that's where I'm at now, was it work that took you to Northants?

Yes it is cold, lets hope Friday is warmer and we can both get on our new S10's,

Woking Yamaha fitted the Oxford Adventure grips and I've fitted the Touratech adjustable screen and a Zumo cradle yesterday, Hepco rear brake reservoir guard today.

Watch out with the fender extender, somewhere on here, people say some extenders hook-up on a bash plate (if you have one?)

May get the Touratech crash bars, I've spent too much already!

That'll be Goldsworth road then :)
I retired when living in Guildford having worked all around the county on those white motorbikes with a red stripe. ;) The housing costs in Surrey were out of my range, hence my move a little further North. I was born in Guildford and I still miss my home town.

I used to race enduros in my youth, but have no intention of taking the tenere along anything harder that a farm track, so I haven't any plans for a bash plate. Just setting the bike up for long comfy road touring around this country and Europe.

That is one choice you will not regret! Enjoy the new ride when you finally get it... I had to wait three days, so I know how hard it is waiting. Welcome from Oklahoma! ::022::

Great deal, you won't regret it, I swapped a GS for the Tenere, and like you needed a huge discount to do it, but t=at the ruight price they are a great bike.
