Rear Brake Failure (NOT disc or pads)

Re: Rear Brake Failure Thanks Big Bob. I saw that and tried following it, but I can't find a cap nut to fit the banjo bolt anywhere. I am going to attempt to weld a plug on the end of a nut to make my own cap. It's always something

Rear Brake Failure (NOT disc or pads)

Re: Rear Brake Failure I hate to tell you, but it probably is the ABS pump. I am going through the same thing right now. (2012 Super Tenere with 30,000 in it) http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=7940.0 (I am embarrassed to say I haven't really ridden since October) I just put my...

    Rear brake failure.

Mark, If I came across as a bit of a douche, I am sorry. I re-read my reply this morning and I see where it could be taken that way. I have been on Yamaha's of one form or another for 38 years. I am kind of hot under the collar on this. I meant no disrespect toward you. I lurk on this site...

    Rear brake failure.

Hey Mark, I hope that is the case, but if you look up around on this thread or do a search on the site for "ABS", the ABS pump seems to be a failure point on this bike and the symptom is loss of rear brakes. I haven't done a visual or diagnosis yet, but I replaced the pads less than 5,000 miles...

    Rear brake failure.

HA! I have an owl that lives between me and the little town just north of me. Every once in a while he dive bombs me in the evenings. They scare the hell out of you, don't they? Thanks for the heads up and posting this. I am going to bypass it and start a complaint with safercar.gov. These ABS...

    Rear brake failure.

Thanks Eemsreno, I actually read your thread after I posted my question. My bikes rear brakes just basically hit the floor. If I pump them a few times or I grab the front brakes, I get pressure back. I don't think it is 100% back, but probably 75%. I am going to put it on the lift tomorrow and...

    Rear brake failure.

Good afternoon, I have a 2012 ST with around 30K on it and I think the ABS Unit took a crap yesterday. Kevhunts suggest there is a test for this in the manual. I don't have a manual, so could someone post the tests for me? This isn't very good news if the unit is out. :-[

MIVV exhaust for the Super Tenere

I have the MIVV Super Oval on my 2012 ST and I really like it. I also had one on my FZ-1 that was heavily modified and it sound wonderful. PJ's Parts carries them in the states and they are great to deal with. http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=24_125_247_779

    I Love this Bike ...

I feel the same way. I came off of a 2006 Street Glide a few years ago and when I tell people this is the best bike I have ever owned, they can't believe it.

Baja Design Pro Squadron vs Piaa 530s

Thanks for the replies. So I rode home at lunch and looked at my set up. Don't you get some nasty reflection off your windscreen at night when these are on, or do you have the canted out slightly?

Baja Design Pro Squadron vs Piaa 530s

This is bad ass and I think I need to do it. Is there a write up somewhere on what parts were used and how it was done?

Baja Design Pro Squadron vs Piaa 530s

I will throw another curve ball in here. I got a pair of ADV Monster LED lights and I like them a lot. I bought two lights and mounted them where the PIAA's would mount. I also bought the dimmer module that allows you to set the lights below 100% and then when you hit the high beam switch, they...

    Farkle Remorse Thread

Arjays, I have seen this before with grip heaters. The throttle side generally has plastic under the grip and it works well as an insulator, so the heat gets directed toward your hand. The grip on the clutch side usually mounts right to the metal of the handle bar and "adsorbs" the heat. I bet...

Did you divorce your harley for your new Tenere mistress?

In a round about way, yes. My first Harley was a 1998 Electra Glide cop bike I bought in 2004. I rode the wheels off that thing for a year. Then I bought a 2006 street glide and put 90K on it in 3 years. It was my primary transport as well as recreation. I sold it and had a Triumph ST for a...

On the road alone on ya Tenere...

I have almost always ridden with a group. It was a great group of people and I imagine we had ridden over 100,000 miles together. Over the years, attrition took it's toll on the group in the form of people moving, selling bikes and having families. In the past few years since the group kind of...

Spidi H2O, Tourmaster Centurion, Joe Rocket Survivor, Aerostich Roadcraft

I just bought a Roadcrafter R-3 after years of messing around with jackets and pants. I never wanted to spend the money on a Aerostich and I never wanted to be "one of those guys in a spacesuit" OK, OK, I was on Harley's at the time and vanity was paramount. To my credit, I rode everyday in...
