Moving to Cali - need some help (w/parking along the way)

I know, some of you are going to say "You need help BECAUSE you're moving to Cali!"... Some of you may even be tempted by your own local weather to volunteer sight unseen for anything that'll get you to California! But this one is simple... On the nights of March 10 and 11, I need somewhere...

Has anyone seen a radiator heat deflector for the Tenere?

I seem to recall seeing one a couple years ago. Simple clip on jobbie that'd help push the rad heat outboard a bit more, saving the rider's left leg from baking. Damned if I can find such an animal now. :(

Tires - what are we liking these days for mostly street work (80/20 or 90/10)?

Before I swap my TKC-80s off for the original factory rubber bands, figured I'd check up on what the latest and greatest are for replacement tires. :) Whatchya likin' folks? I'm thinking of a long road trip, with little, if any, dirt for this trip, so an 80/20 or 90/10 would be suitable. I...

Seattle to San Diego (And back...) - Think the Tenere is up for it?

::002:: I KNOW the Tenere is capable, but... Am I ready for it? Been riding a ton lately, but all on my Vespa. Oh, did I mention I bought a Vespa (2012 GTS 300 ie)? I thought of taking that to SD, but figure the Tenere has better range, so that seals the deal... ;) OK, the plan is this: Ride...

Plastic screws for side wind deflecters

Where do we find them? What's their proper name? Who the f**K ever thought they'd be a good idea?!

In dash temp sensor way, way off after reassemblig the bike

I took some time this weekend to rebuild the cowl on the Tenere - simple job as I only replaced 3 pieces...one being the entire headlight assembly, which comes as a $450 single unit - plug & play. :) As part of the work, I removed the dash (called the meter in the tech manual) and placed it...

FasstCo Flexx Bars & Simple Solution Handguards - a quick review

First off, I'll set some expectations. I only just installed the hand guards and have zero miles on the road with them, but...in the grand tradition of the Internet, I shall review them anyway! The Flexx bars have been on the Tenere for darn near two years now - wow! I opted, when I installed...

Torque Value for top nut on triple clamp

Looking for the factory spec torque for that big mother nut on top of the triple clamp - the one hidden under the rounded hunk of rubber. I took it off last night and will need the spec for reassembly in a couple weeks...

Is this offset part on the frame normal or bent?

Disassembled the Tenere for the pending rebuild this evening. Parts are ordered, well, most of them. The pic below shows the broken parts - I'll reorder the headlight protector later as ALT Rider has a clear acrylic version coming out shortly - and I'd rather that than wire again. The "two"...

The "Why didn't I just stay home" ride report

OK, the truth? I should have stayed home. First off, no one was hurt. But it was "one of those days"... there are no pictures, so break out you're reading glasses ladies, and dust of those mad word understanding skillz! We started bickering about start times earlier in the week, settling on a...

Post accident delierium sets in - what to do?

As some of you have discovered, I was a very bad bike parent yesterday. I ran into the backside of a friend's bike. Obviously accidental, but heart, and plastic, breaking non-the-less. His new KTM 1190 went down, but all the armor did it's job. he did a niffy super hero dance as he jumped away...

Parts needed to fix my bent Tenere...sigh

Bumped into a friend's bike today. Dented his pannier... Destroyed my front fender, so I need one of those. Destroyed that central dash support under the speedo/tach unit, so I need one of those. Not sure what else is cracked yet...sigh. Hit this thread or PM me if you have these parts...

I thnk I might ride the Tenere this weekend - been about 5 months.

Sigh. I admit it. I'm a bad motorcycle parent. I haven't been riding since, damn, July? Buy a new truck, road trip, travel for work, get laid off, trend on Twitter, go back to work, slip in a beach vacation in the Bahamas...I've been busy. And now, it appears we're going to have some decent...

One Month With Gracie - The Wonderful RAM EcoDiesel

Well, it's been exactly 28 days since we picked up our 2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel at Dave Smith Motors in Idaho. Before we bought it, I waxed poetic about it. Excited about the potential, fueled by the assumed knowledge the Internet can infuse a person with. Stats, information, and impressive...

Existentialism of Moving Motorcycles - They Force Me To This Choice

Before I explain what’s been consuming me lately, I’ll start by saying most of my lack of participation in this great community revolves around travel and work. London, New York, Nashville and Chicago. Been there in the last 8 weeks. Managed to slip in a weekend of offroad training (with the...

New hauler of butts and bikes

I love my Tacoma. Amazing little truck...save for the roughly 19 mpg it routinely brings home. And frankly, I think small trucks, well ALL trucks, should be getting better fuel economy. With the lingering, background desire we've both had to have a full size truck, the recent improvements in...

Happy Trails top box - 7 inch model

I waffled. I vacillated. I just didn't know which way to go. Do I go with the 4" tall model and have the super slim profile? Or do I go with the 7" tall model and enjoy a much more practical storage experience? Well, MONTHS ago when I made the call, I opted for the 7" tall model, figuring...

What's that I feel under my butt? Why a new suspension of course!

Just got off the phone with Alex at Konflict Motorsports. Tenere is done - was finished up earlier today. She was well behaved and provided Alex with zero problems during the install. Now the bike has a Touratech Expedition rear shock and the Hyperpro front springs. Can't wait to test this...

Looking for a good lay...Tent or Bridge Hammock options sought

I'm thinking I want to try a hammock while camping this year. I've been researching a lot and think I want a tent-style hammock, and preferably a bridge style as they tend to lay flatter. For those unfamiliar, a tent style hammock is exactly what it sounds like. A hammock which is integrated...
