For me personally my Tenere is just too damn heavy for anything more than a dirt road..I dropped it in deep pine needles in a national park and tried for 20 minutes to pick it up...No bueno. These days I grab my XR 650L for the backcountry or better yet my KTM 300XC...Your experience may vary... :)

Tank protectors in the center do work to prevent scratching from jacket zippers, etc... I made one from a rear fender graphic for a Yamaha YZ 250 that works pretty well...

As a former motocross racer (24 years) I really don't feel the need to seriously off road my Super Tenere... Im 64 now and still an avid dirt rider mostly single track but realize that my 14 KTM 300 XC or my restored 01 Honda XR 400 are both way better at the thrill of off road riding for me...

I have one on my 2018....Love the sound, not too loud but you can hear it nicely when you grab some throttle... As far as weight savings...the stock can is a boat anchor. Also the install was a breeze....2 bolts and 10 minutes saved me 20 lbs.

I ride my 18 in S mode pretty much all the time...I love the heavy engine braking but thats just me... When I bought my KTM 300 XC in 2014 I immediately installed the red spring for max power.. Whatever fits your riding style is the right choice. Al
