    ECU

I guess I dont know for sure. Certainly you can buy the ECU from any dealer and they will ship it to you, my assumption is that it is pre-flashed at the factory. I checked models from 2014-2018, basically any year that had ES suspension and they all have the same part number, are they the same...

    Electrical Issue

Yamaha has their own OBD connector it is a 4 pin square harness behind the right plastic panel near the tool kit. The codes show 89 and 44 which are communication codes from the dash saying it cannot communicate with the ecu. As the ECU is dead the code reader wont connect so I cant get any more...

    ECU

I would do that and agree 100% but where do you go to get it tested? I have read the service manual and it basically says for the error codes I have to check fuses, check wiring, replace ECU.

    ECU

Well been following the service manual and think I have done every thing they asked up to this point. I have checked all the fuses, verified power and ground to the modules, have pinged the earth and power circuits for continuity. Also checked continuity on the two CAN circuits from front to...

    Electrical Issue

Update, I have stripped a lot of bike down and see no evidence of rodent damage. Have checked continuity between the three main electronic boxes(dash, engine, suspension) for power, ground and also checked both sides of CAN and they all test fine. According to the manual this means the ECU is...

    ECU

Well I think my ECU is fried, anyone else ever had this issue, curious if this is a common problem. So looking for a used ecm part number 2BS-8591A-30. Does anyone know if it comes pre-flashed or not?

    Electrical Issue

It is certainly a possibility. I have been looking over the wiring diagram and there are two CAN wires that run between the instrument panel, ECU and ES module, if one of those wires is broken then there will be an issue, but finding it maybe a whole other story. Just not sure if you need...

    Electrical Issue

Thanks new battery. The bike has 3000 miles on it, next step is to remove electrical and check ECU and wiring. According to owner he parked it and it was fine, tried to start and issue popped up. Hoping it is a mouse wiring thing and nothing else, cant imagine how an ECU would go bad while...

    Electrical Issue

So I bought a bike that had been stored in a barn for a while and it has an electrical issue that I am still trying to diagnose. When it powers up it shows two codes 89 and 44 which are both ECU communication errors. It also shows "ERR" where the clock normally is. I have checked all the fuses...

    ERR on dash, no start.

I have a new battery on order, I sure hope it fixes the issues. Thanks for the feedback.

    ERR on dash, no start.

Wish it was a female interference issue be easier to fix. So the bike is a 2018 with 3000 miles that has sat for a while. The prior owner tried to start it and it came up with some codes, the primary one being ERR in the top left of the dash. It ran fine before its sat, no real electrical...
