ECU reflash - results only in this thread

I'm told the even modern mass produced engines vary significantly in certain characteristics, so that may account for it. My gear shift internals have broken at 24k miles - still being investigated by the dealer - one to watch as I bought the bile ex demo. This means that the bike was registered...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Thanks I've nothing to lose by trying that, though it looks clean enough. The onset of this issue was sudden and got worse quickly. I'll give it a clean and a burst of ACF50 - might work!

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

OK, so I've now done 1000 miles since the updated flash was installed. Has it eliminated the stumble at 2000 rpm, sadly no - but it's better, less violent and much less infrequent, but it's still there, annoying. Now the good stuff, this is how the XT should have been mapped out of the factory...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

This is the case, the flash is marketed as being customised to existing modifications. This is a bit of a grey area as the first generation flash (from ECU Unleashed) could not address the closed loop area of the map and so this issue of the flash itself being able to control / correct any...

Beating the ECU issue to death

Update from ECU and my local dealer, Race Engineering. The new flash (including closed loop control) is here! It will be fitted to my bike next week. Once I've given it a decent test, I'll post the results. YAY!

Beating the ECU issue to death

I do have an S10 with the ECU Unleashed flash - it surges like a bugger at 2000 RPM and ECU have thus far (over a year) been able to do nothing about it despite promises that "somethings on the way" - was February, now ETA unknown. The flash is marketed as compatible with prior disclosed...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Totally agree with Simmons1 & Rasher. I've mailed again re getting someone (anyone) to answer my communications, if I hear nothing by COP tomorrow I'll demand my cash back and a return to the stock flash. I won't be holding my breath for this one..................

I can try - difficult when they (ECU) don'r respond to communication!

Well, here we are in March and guess what? No news from ECU or response to my email..................

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Well I hope I'm getting a genuine steer from ECU, it's the closed loop that needs sorting so that they can add fuel to this area of the map. I'd struggle to see why they would send me duff info, if they weren’t in fact doing any work in the S10 flash. I'll give it to the end of Feb but will...

Will do, really looking forward to getting this fixed!

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Update on my flash problems (awful surging at 2000 rpm) ECU have been in touch to say that their new flash (which addresses the closed loop issue) will be available in February. This is for a bike with K&N, Arrow catless headers and an Akro can) - Looking forward to getting this issue sorted at...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Yep, that's the thing to try next to be sure - I'm pretty sure it was the Akro that broke the camels back, bike ran fine with Arrow headers and a Remus can (pre flash). I suppose having given ECU the exact spec as requested, I sort of expected the flash to work with it. I'll be running again...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

I think the issue seems to be confined to the K&N/Arrow/Akro/certain type of ECU combination where fuelling at 2000k is a real issue on some bikes. It's been over six months and dispite full dyno information being supplied, ECU have not yet been able to solve the fuelling issue. Guess I'm just...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Yesterday I heard from my local dealer, Race Engineering that Unleashed have made some progress to getting the reflash to work within the closed loop area of the S10. Apparently S10's are supplied with three different makes of ECU and unleashed have different success rates in tuning these...

Anyone removed OE heated grips (Without breaking them)

I had the same issue removing the grips whilst changing my bars. I found that very gentle use of a hairdryer coupled with carefull lossening of the assosiated wireing did the trick nicely.

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

The problem does seem to be only with the catless headers and Akro can combination and then only with some bikes, I've seen nothing from others with alternative combinations and as I've posted previously. I had no issue with the standard or Remus pipes on the catless or standard headers. It does...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

On Rashers point, it would seem cost effective to go with the flash - if you don't have a catless / Akro setup or a pre-exsisting surging problem. I thought the lower price of the flash attactive, but had I known how much hassel the whole thing would turn out to be I'd probably have settled for...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Well at the request of ECU. Iv'e been on the dyno for quite a long run with the guys from Race Engineering who sent all of the information gathered back to ECU in the US in the requested format some time ago with the aim of bulding a map from this info. ECU seemed very keen to do this at first...

ECU reflash - results only in this thread

Thanks for the reply’s folks. I guess Simmons1 has the point nailed here, we both specified the exact configuration of the bike to ECU before the reflash, therefore if there is a known issue or the reflash itself cannot control fuelling in the 2000k area and a PCV is needed on top of the flash...
