Did the fork rebuild on my 14 ES last month, so yesterday was rear suspension rebuild time.

All new bearings everywhere. The Motion Pro suspension bearing tool kit is fiddly, but a must have for this job.

Important note for the ES: the All Balls linkage bearing kit has the bearing and seals for the non ES model, which is wider and doesn't fit. You have to buy the OEM bearing, seals, and collars.

The All Balls swingarm bearing kit is good to go.

Installed the Arrow header. My bike ecu is already flashed, so the bike is running okay with it, but I've only been able to ride it around freezing so I'm not sure how this combo will work outside of winter.

Mounted new front and rear tires this morning too.

This was from a couple of weeks ago:

Exactly, that would have been such an easier (and cheaper) option, but it wouldn't work on the ES.

Installed a Chase Harper tank bag. I was wanting something off the handlebars to stow phone and billfold and other odds and ends and thought I'd try a tank bag if I could find one reasonable. They charge an arm and a leg for a lot of that stuff. Someone on this forum mentioned this brand and it is made in usa and looked pretty good so risked $70. I was really surprised in the quality and how well it fit the tank. It is the magnetic job with a strap with quick release that goes completely around the gooseneck assy. Lots of pockets and a see through pouch for a map and adaptable for back pack. Pretty good deal I thought.

The throttle body synchronizer also showed up. Hooked up the less than 2000 mi Tenere and found they were out 2-300 on the scale or whatever those numbers indicated. Checked the screws and they were both all the way in. The left being marked I turned it out 3/4 turn and adjusted the other. The bike runs so much better off idle. No crazy up and down idle speed, smoother accel off idle and easier to control at low speed/idle. I'd suggest new owners check their bikes if they are dissatisfied with how it runs off idle.

Everything else looked good. Found the starter cable fastener was a little loose.

Still a keeper.

Throttle body synchronizer? I'm just now dropping down this rabbit hole. It looks like the cool digital Harmonizer is no longer being made, but is it worth spending the money to buy the necessary tool and test my bike if there are not any noticeable signs that it is running rough?

That sensor hooked to the port with the screw all the way in is the “intake air pressure sensor”. I am curious what that affects. Think that is similar to a map sensor. Diagnostics says low power, failed emissions, excessive fuel consumption when sensor is inop. I believe the low power, it signals the ecu when under power. I slid over to sport mode and it felt like lots more power. Never mind, the adjustable bleed is not on the same circuit as the sensor. And it died at a stop light after all this, so there still might be an ecu flash afterall in the future.

Thinking out loud? Tecmate makes some good stuff, they have two synchronizers they make. One recommended by yamaha.

I have a decent 4-gauge Synchronizer you could borrow if you wanted to check yours.
It's a required instrument for a carbureted inline-4 like my FJ1200.
I have yet to check the Super-Tenere, but I plan to at the next Valve-check.

A simple manometer has worked well for me over the years. Plastic tubes forming a 3-4' U, with 1 1/2 - 2 feet of 2cycle oil at the bottom (just in case something was way off and the bike sucked it dry). Very cheap to make. I also leave permanent capped pigtails in place on the bike, so it is easy to set up.

Finally got this light mounted and wired up. It fits nicely in the space. I made my own bracket and used the four holes in the plastic structure directly above it. It's from Black Oak LED.

The Denali Sound Bomb horn. I got the split model to make mounting easier, because I did not want it hanging off either side of the bike. 120 decibles! Super loud!
You might want to check clearance under full fork compression. I had a similar horn mounted there that hit the crossover hose forcing the fender into the tire. Ruined the fender.

After the arrow exhaust install and synching the tb's, the touring mode is still a little anemic in the lower rpm's and off idle. I remembered there is a sport mode also, it does much better there and acts as it should with no problems off idle. So I'll be riding the sport mode, that's an improvement for myself and the bike:)
