Read yesterday that the 2014 FJR1300 is coming out with elec adjsutable suspension, just like GS and KTM, so it may also find its way to the ST for 2014?

I had the same pattern on my Tourance EXP after a total of 6,000kms which included a 5,500km trip to the South Island. Bike was solo rider and full panniers. Friend on a GS, had the exact same pattern.

I found the best mod was the Akrapovic slip on exhaust. Simple and made a huge difference when it comes to twisting the throttle up to 6,000rpm.

Good point about the cost of ownership. BMW servicing costs are significantly more than Yamaha, without considering the costs of ownership when the GS is out of warranty. I owned a 1150GS previously and you have to service the bike every 10,000km plus there are items over and above this that...

I got a pair of the Sidi Adventure, comfy from the word go. Rode through a storm, heavy driving rain, the other day, it was that wet that my goretex lined pants leaked (first time) but the boots stayed dry. I was riding for 2 1/2 hours before I stopped only to change gloves. Great boots.

My S10 came with the EXP, and I found them to be a great tyre on the road in both wet/dry conditions. Only problem was that they were both worn out by 6000km. Since I am about 95% road, I put on PR3 on the bike and am getting 9000km from a rear and 18000km from a front. Wouldnt hesitate to go...

Its like anything new, you just need to get used to it and adapt to suit. If you managed to survive in an urban environment for a number of years on a scooter, then the step might not be as big as you think. I would suggest that you keep it on the tar for a few months before considering...

Just bought the X-lite X-702, great helmet, plenty of vents, quiet and has the drop down sun visor. All ideal for NZ roads.
