Must be the difference. Mine is 2012 and I'm sure the light has always gone on for a couple of seconds when the key is turn on, and then the ABS light goes off. Anyway, it would appear that the noise is the ABS self diagnosis test, but it never stops. Here's what the service manual says:

No, not fuel pump. Sorry I wasn't clear. I hear it when the key is in the on position and it continues as long as I leave it in that position. I can't hear it once the bike is started but I'm assuming it's still there. Sounds just like a clock and definitively coming from under the seat.

Thanks Mingo and Jimbob. I just haven't seen the need for additional lighting. I'll contact my local dealer for pricing today (I can't imagine what that thing will be worth) but if anyone is interested in selling theirs let me know.

Does anyone know if the so called grill (plastic insert in space under headlight) on the 2014 fits earlier model years? And does anyone have a part number for that piece?

If you ride two up a lot you might want to take the wife for a test ride on an S10. My wife has not adapted well to the S10 and it's not so much the seat comfort but the height. She is just over 5 ft and doesn't like feeling like she is perched so high off the ground. I have no regrets. Not a one.
