    To Tenere or to Explorer

I'm at 9,000 miles in about 8 months. Just finished a 900 mile loop around Colorado. Twisty asphalt, long flat straight stretches, some graded hard pack dirt roads. The Super Tenere is a pack mule. It simply does very many things well. Awhile back during a spring snowstorm I was running the...

    Stupid oil change question

The easiest way I have found to add the correct amount of oil to my Tenere (or any other bike I've owned) is to buy my oil in 1000 ml containers such as Spectro motor oil comes in. Then I just use the measuring indicator on the side of the container. It comes out perfect every time. No trying...

    Klim Latitude?

My Latitude Jacket and Pant combo arrived yesterday. With only a few short rides with the new gear on I'll throw in my 2 cents. 1= Quality construction. Double stitching everywhere. The garment feels very robust and the 850 Cordura is stiff, as the gear is new. 2= The suit has a general...

    Klim Latitude?

Good information to know. It helps with the decision making. WJR After much contemplation, I have decided to give the Latitude gear a try. Most reviews and things I have read were positive for the most part. I was able to see the jacket and pants in person and they appear to be very robust...

Touratech Campanero Suit. Value or Overpirced "Look at How Much Money I have"

I haven't been around for a while. Too busy with other things in my life. I'm still looking to upgrade gear and am thinking of going KLIM Latitude. Still a bit over $1000 USD for jacket / Pant combo. I'm getting tired of drenched "Man Vegetables" every time it rains. I'm still having trouble...

    Klim Latitude?

creggur, I've been considering the Latitude or Traverse for awhile now. Latitude would be my 1st choice. It just looks like better gear. I spend a lot of time in the desert and warmer temps. How well do you like the "Silver" color choice? It looks great in the pics you posted I just don't want...

Show me your bike loaded with tent camping gear

I take a few spanners 10,12,14, mm. 1- 8" adjustable open end. a complete set of metric hex key. Mighty Morph bike pump. a couple screw drivers. A set of 1/4" drive metric sockets. Pliers, and tire patch kit, that's close to it for tools. Then there are the things I take if I'm doing a ride in...

Show me your bike loaded with tent camping gear

Last weekend in Taylor Park. The photo was taken a few hours before a brief snowstorm hit Cottonwood Pass. Riding over the pass during the snowstorm was a true "Adventure Ride". What a kick in the pants.

    Klim

I have two sets of pants. Summer,,, "Mojave" great ventilation. And for fall/winter the Dakar fills the bill. However neither one is water proof. The Dakar's work in a sprinkle, but you will get a wet ass real quick if it rains hard for more than a few minutes. I like the bigger/looser fit of...

Gaerne SG-10 for ADV Riding. Too Much of a Motocross Boot?

Houndman, A word of advice, I have the Infinity TCX. Very comfortable. Pretty good fit for my EE foot. Better than a pair of soft shoes. But I felt they lacked protection. I haven't wore them since I got the Balanced Oils. The Gearne's feel a whole lot better ( I did put a cushioned insert...

Sportbike Convert: Need Tips for Riding Gravel

+1 Great way to sum it up HoebSTer. The "Counter Steer" method didn't work on dirt for me either. It's almost impossible to steer the bike with the front tire on gravel, So I too "weight" the pegs and just a little body english the bike goes where I want it too. The best thing that worked for...

Which clothes and how many for trip

+ 1. What Mellow said. Synthetic stuff other than fleece packs small and light. Ten times better than anything cotton. It gets wet, it dries within minutes at warm temps. It will dry wearing the stuff. If riding in hot desert environment it kinda feels good when it's wet. I've had great luck...

Fuel mileage Touring vs Sport mode

I've been seeing 45 mpg in S mode exclusively for the last 5 tank fulls. 200 miles then the "Flashing" E comes on and 4.4 gallons to fill. My bike got the same in T mode. 45 mpg. So I'll just keep it in sport.

K60 Scouts fitted, bit vibey, anyone else?

Here is an update HoebSTer, I am at 2200 miles on the 705's. Rear looks about 1/2 gone. Front is wearing better. 90% asphalt commuting, 10% dirt/gravel. I don't know if I'll buy them again. They do feel/handle well for my riding style though. WJR

Super Tenere Engine Performance At Altitude.

Brother,, I live @ 7600'. Ride to 8,500' on regular basis. Never had the bike below 6,000'. The bike runs fine. However, you will more than likely notice a small decrease in power, that's just the way it is at high altitude. But the scenery and riding out here will take your mind off the...
