    Cleveland to Alaska part deux

Wasn't my best planning but the deviation from ending in Seattle to Cleveland hurt.

    Cleveland to Alaska part deux

Trailmax missions. The front started cracking in the grooves around the treads 4300 miles in. Since I'm relatively a neophyte with more aggressive tires, I pulled the front off in Whitehorse and the guy said it looked normal. Cold psi was 33 when hot it would be about 38. They look the same 4200...

    Cleveland to Alaska part deux

As all trips do, this one started off with it's own issues. From the annoying month and a half of locating a front tire to installing my fork seals and having a piece of latex glove cause a severe leak 2 days before leaving to back spasms. All things that make you think it's probably best to...

    Trailmax cracks

Update: made it the 3500 miles home and the tire looks pretty much the same. After 8500 miles, the tread still looks good so I'm going to just keep an eye on it.

    Trailmax cracks

Stopped to get a tire and the guy was like "looks normal" and told me to run it. I'm running 33 front 40 rear. My pilot roads would get 13-15k out of a front.

    Trailmax cracks

These have 8 days on them. First set of tires I've been on top of checking on a trip. Normally I just send it. Probably should've just sent it.

    Trailmax cracks

It's the front. Never had a tire crack all the way around like this. Just a long way back

    Trailmax cracks

Anyone have their Dunlop's crack around the tread? Tire started showing cracking about 4300 miles into my trip to Alaska. 1423 is the date code. Tire pressure was 33psi and checked twice a day (for once I actually didn't neglect them). I put another 600 miles on them today and there doesn't seem...

    Ohio to Alaska

I appreciate the link and info. I'll jot down the not so squirrelly stuff and add the wilder stuff to a list if I can get a few more people involved. I'd also camp but I feel like that would just be cruel to my passenger. Also, your trip looked like it was phenomenal.

    Ohio to Alaska

I appreciate the insight so far. It's good to hear the accomodations aren't as sparse as it seems. Lodging has been a little bit more of a concern than weather and road conditions. As for fuel, I figure I'll carry a spare tank just in case. Oddly enough, after a decade of misadventures and...

    Ohio to Alaska

I'm in the process of ironing out a trip to Alaska this summer and looking for some insight The farthest north I've been on the bike is Banff and I'm curious as to how tough it will be to find lodging once I'm through Jasper. Current plan is to ride to Calgary pick the passenger up, head to...

    New from Cleveland

You're right. Too many bikes and they all blend together these days. Especially if I don't have to do any work to it.
