Tire recommendations for my first off-road (ish) adventure

I recommend a tire to avoid, i.e. Metzeler Karoo3 due to poor mileage. They are now on sale in Finland, so maybe they have finally stopped making this crappy tire.

    Will you take the vaccine

[Political content deleted. Do NOT try it again or you will be banned. - CW] ...The result is depressing, our vaccine coverage is now about 80%.

Notching head bearings at 30k klms

So did I. Had a big center notch at 50.000klms. The outer rings looked exactly like yours. Never seen nothing like that. I've torqued the bearings regularly but seems that didnt' help. Obviously the lower bearing won't last because of the steep steering angle and front weight of the bike. Our...

    Foot pegs- aftermarket choices

I noticed the same thing. Apparently those footpegs are intended for an earlier model with a different side stand.

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

The manual has dozens of pages on the activities of ABS and UBS. It seems that modern electronically controlled ABS brakes are so complicated that it is not easy to stab them. In any case, there is no guarantee of achieving a reliable end result. At least I'm not going to start any pilot project...

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

That cleared it up. I have to admit that I'm not sufficiently familiar with the ABS-ECU's operating logic, which is why I don't necessarily understand everything right away.

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

I didn't quite understand everything. How can the TCR work if the pulse comes from the front wheel when the rear ABS is disabled. I think ECU compares the rotation of both wheels and activates TCR if the rear wheel starts to rotate quicker. What do you mean by deceleration sensor? I think the...

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

There is at least one weak point in the first theory. The front and rear wheels do not rotate at the same speed, so the pulses produced by the sensors do not coincide. The second the theory seems more promising.

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

Interesting theory. Any proof that it also works and doesn't cause other problems with the brakes? Has anyone done this mod? I have also seen other members looking for a same mod.

    Foot pegs- aftermarket choices

Unfortunately the manufacturer's numbers of the ION footpegs don't match. Maybe there is some difference between them? SW-M: FRS.06.011.10101/S TW: FRS0601110001S On the other hand, the instructions mention the manufacturer's old number FRS.06.011.10000/S, which can also be found on...

Frustrated that used bike I bought is not starting now!

I had similar start problems many years ago with my Audi when the timing belt tensioner got stuck and the timing went haywire. Is it possible that the cam tensioner is broken and the cam chain has jumped? I would check the timing marks.

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

I know how to do it by physically disconnecting the ABS motor from the rear master cylinder. That's not what I'm looking for though. I want push button operation like many other bikes.

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

I don't think anybody has disabled ABS just the rear. Looked everywhere. Anyway, maybe the clean conversion is impossible without modifying the ECU firmware code.

    Foot pegs- aftermarket choices

You´re right. I checked the part numbers for OEM footpegs for 2014 and 2017 models. They are the same. I wonder why SW-Motech isn´t interested in selling those footrest to earlier models?

HOW TO: Quick and Easy ABS Disable Switch

I had the ABS disabled but don't ride without ABS anymore because of the gravel roads I use. Sometimes there is too much speed and the roads are full of sharp curves. The front brake must not lock under any circumstances. Had few tricky situations when there was a lot of gravel on the road...
