    Key Problems

Thanks Oldrider - they said they did a nationwide search, but no way to verify. I almost had one on Ebay, but missed it by an hour or two. If you have that dealer name, would be glad to try another avenue. I did get the triple tree off and am going to take it in to a locksmith to get the...

    Key Problems

Apparently nobody stocks these switches - the dates on getting a new one are now in July Looking on Ebay, but nothing there I would trust yet. . . . wow, didn't expect parts for this bike to be scarce like this.

    Key Problems

Found where the ignition wire disconnect is - right above the battery. Now have to figure out how the plastic connector works, as its tough to see much of it. Might end up waiting on the new switch to see if that will give a clue as to how to undo it. It would be just my luck to break...

Will take a look at that. Got the triple tree off last night, now just have to find the wiring disconnect and I'll be able to take a good look at how to get that switch out. THanks! Dave

    Key Problems

Just ordered the switch - $151 out the door, but it will take 10 or so days to get here. In the meantime I'll remove the triple tree and watch some Youtube on drilling out the old bolts. EricV thanks for the pic on how those work. Anybody know how far back you have to trace the ignition wire...

    Key Problems

I see your point - probably worth the $150 to replace the whole thing. I assume when you buy a switch that they include keys for it, or do you have to take it in to have it keyed?

    Key Problems

Hey Guys - finally made it back here. . . great information from all, thanks so much for the education on how this works and your experiences. This last is really interesting - didn't know that only one side functioned actively - that really helps in visualizing how it goes. So tonight I rode...

    Key Problems

I didn't know the cylinder was independent of the whole switch - is the cylinder replacable without having to remove the whole switch and drill out the security bolts? That's the part I don't think I could do myself. After doing some reading, it sounds like the cylinder idea is likely correct...

    Key Problems

Yeah, I agree with you guys on this, and its really interesting to me that CycleMike had a similar one-sided key. And the point about the switch failing in BFE is exactly what I'm concerned about. Want to take this bike on an upcoming trip to Canada in June, and I don't think I can do it with...

    Key Problems

Yep, its the original - the bike only came with one, so its a single point of failure right now. A big concern is being on a trip and all of a sudden the key won't work, given that it already is acting odd with the key only working in one orientation.

    Key Problems

Good idea to check - the key slot looks normal - the spring cover operates properly and there aren't any scratches or evidence that it was physically abused.

    Key Problems

Greetings! I picked up a 2013 Super T a few months back and am trying to sort a few issues, but this key problem is the most pressing. The bike has 27k miles, and is generally in pretty good condition. The PO only had one key for it, and once I got home with it, discovered that the key will...

    Greetings from Iowa

Hello All, I'm Dave from southern Iowa in the Central US, and picked up an S10 a month or so ago. Have historically been an older BMW rider, but have been looking for something a bit more updated and reliable - the Super T looks to fit the bill. The new BMW's hold no interest for me, just way...
