So.. when I got my used bike it had a Yosh RS4 exhaust on it without the baffle. The baffle is actually the turn down so it was coming out straight and has melted the left side of the license plate arm, not sure what it's called. It didn't melt it up to bad but you can see it if you look for it...
I got the shims in today and got them installed. The thickness on the HotCams was within the hundredth but the diameter was off about 3 hundredths so the fit looser in the spring keepers than OEM. The OEM ones kinda snapped in place. I don’t see any issues width it (haha get it).
The stupid...
Hi all, I am doing a valve adjustment on my bike and have been waiting on OEM shims for a week now and they are still on back order. I was able to get a set of HotCam shims but I am a little worried about the hardness compared to OEM.
Does anyone have any experience with OEM vs the HotCams shims?
Well, I had some extra time and found a very handy video on YT (Thanks Marco!) so I decided to tear into the bike and the valves are a bit out of spec @ 28K. I really didn't want to have to pull the cams but looks like I will be doing some extra work.
Edit: Can someone confirm the shim sizes...
Thanks Tabasco, I appreciate the input. You think I would be better off ditching the auto CCT and getting a manual? I was going to get a manual originally but was hesitant with not getting the adjustment just right, but if the auto could be causing these problems maybe I am better off.
Thanks for the reply guys, not sure on the valve check. I have to assume the original owner did not have it done so it is due now. I am not really that comfortable with that so will probably end up taking it in to get that done.
I actually re-used the gasket on the CCT and I am 95% sure I put...
Hey all, I picked up a 2012 with 28k miles a few weeks ago and have noticed a ticking noise with it. It had a CCT rattle on start so I replaced the CCT with a OEM auto one which fixed that start rattle. I just changed the oil to yamalube 10-50, so that’s fresh. I normally wear ear plugs but...
Shock Sox or Seal Savers ;)
Edit: Also some tank grips - https://techspec-usa.com/products/adventure-motorcycles/yamaha-super-tenere-2010-current-snake-skin-tank-grips.html
Yoyo, was the thread messed up on the silencer part that fell out or the tip that stayed on the bike? The inner tube for the silencer is really cheap, like $14 but the outer down part is around $45.
I was able to get a parts list from Yosh by calling their cust support. Below is a list if anyone is interested.
Ins-rs4t-b - Insert w/ ring (ring not used)
Rs2-ring-04 - Turn down nozzle
m6x12bhs - 6mmx12mm bolt
Mine is just like that with the silencer out. You can unscrew that bolt you see there in your bottom pic and the silencer will pull out, with a little force.
Edit - Found a video for more info -
Hi guys, I recently got a S10 with a RS4T exhaust on it and its a bit loud down the highway. I will probably end up getting some ear plugs but was also looking into the silencer for it. It didn't come with the bike. Does anyone know the part # for it? I reached out to Yosh but never heard back...
