I fought the road, and the road won

OK. Good! I hope he listens. But, I do beg to Differ. My message is simple: Not This Bike For OffRoad Beginners. I dont really care how simple the non-pavement adventure appears, This Is Not The Right Bike For A Beginner Off Road. Like That...

Crashed last Friday. Maybe a totaled bike

Do you still like the S10? If yes, buy it back as salvage title, then fix it yourself. Money in your pocket, and a cycle you like. Win Win! This works out, because Thank God you're OK.

I fought the road, and the road won

I dont understand why no one else will tell you this. You got lucky here, you walked away un-injured from a drop of a very large cycle. This is NOT the cycle to learn off road skills. Get a smaller cycle (used beater), have fun, break some bones (you need to wrap your head around this: You do...

Tires That Fit - The List

Edit2, 21 Apr 2020: I've 600 miles on this set now. The cold-to-hot inflation increase has not changed. I start at (frt / rear): 33/36, and by rides end I am at: 37/44. They have gotten slightly quieter, not that there was much noise to begin with. The howl at 55 MPH is still there, and has not...

Tires That Fit - The List

I installed a set of these Dunlop Trailmax Mission today. I got 12,500 miles out of the OEM Bridgestone on a 2016 Non ES, stock suspension. Me: 175 lbs, 6 ft. mostly solo rider 90/10. (I have a mile of sand / gravel / dirt leading to my house every time out). I aired to 33 frt / 36 rear for...

Open Trailer and Tarp Use - Scratch Paint?

So, I get the message. Since I intend to "unwrap" along the way, and ride it, I think I'm convinced to tow the cycle uncovered, open. I can remove the windshield and some other stuff. Thanks so much to all that have taken their valuable time to reply. Thank You.

Open Trailer and Tarp Use - Scratch Paint?

I'm replying to all those that have suggested something like this idea. I'm intending on riding along the way. Kinda like "chaptering", but not leaving the cycle in storage between chapters. Tow 'n ride, then repeat. I know, why not just take just the cycle? Because I like the occasional...

Open Trailer and Tarp Use - Scratch Paint?

I looked into this. I do have storage available for a replacement trailer (an enclosed variety), but I'm too cheap to spend that kind of money when I have what looks like a perfectly good trailer on my lot right now. So, I don't think I'm gonna replace it.

Open Trailer and Tarp Use - Scratch Paint?

That would be fun, yup. Not happening though, maybe another time.

Open Trailer and Tarp Use - Scratch Paint?

I plan to trailer my S10 across the USA using my open trailer, and I'm thinking to use a tarp to semi-cover the top and front of the cycle. The tarp would be to keep the worst of the bugs and rock damage from the front of the cycle, and maybe deflect some rain if / when I encounter some of...

    Final Drive Fluid Change

The fill and drain will both use 9/16", M14 size copper crush seal washers, Dorman p/n 65399 or similar.

    Tenere seat recommendations

I second the Terry's Custom choice. Their secret sauce is a higher rise on the saddle horn than stock. That pushes the rider away from the tank, towards the rear of the cycle. Very Comfortable.

I read this as another positive story regarding the Pit Bull. Thanks for relating it. I'm thinking if I can get the mounting squared away, I'm going this route. Thanks to all for sharing their stories.

    Toy Hauler

This is a great story, thanks so much for sharing it. This reads like you've had the Pit Bull restraint system pretty close to the limits vertically. I can just imagine that BMW bouncing around in the back of your trailer. It's a nice testimonial. Thanks for sharing it. You do not mention it...

I'm looking at the Falcon F-23TH. I agree with you that the plate placement would be optimal through a metal cross member. I think I'll need to see one of these trailers in person, and then look at / photograph / measure the structural member placement across the chassis bottom. Strange the...
