McCRUISE fitted today but have issues

I went back and re-read your last post. I took it that when the McCruise was disconnected the bike ran perfect but when it was connected the bike ran poorly. After re-reading the post I assume you were talking about the new map sensor that was installed. I'm simply saying you had no issues...

    2013 SUPER TENERE FOR SALE

No need to justify, its a fair price. I agree with your statement that there are a lot posted for 5-6k and they are not selling. Gen 1's are harder to sell, everyone says to pay the difference for the Gen 2. I bought a 13 last fall and got a heck of a deal on it, much like you the seller just...

McCRUISE fitted today but have issues

Your best bet is to speak to McCruise directly. I'm guessing that during the install that some of the wiring was done incorrectly. Its not a difficult install but a wire or two could easily be put together wrong and is causing the poor running issue. If it were me I would follow the instruction...

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

It happens. I came to realize it really wasn’t that bad. People pull the camshafts all the time to adjust valve shims or replace the cam chain. Just had to have the confidence to do it. Read the SM a couple times and followed it step by step. At the end of the day it just added some extra steps...

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

As much as I stressed about this it wasn’t that bad to correct. Pulled the camshafts, turned the crankshaft to the right position, put the camshafts in and made sure they lined up correctly. Double and triple checked. Install cam chain tensioner and rotated the crankshaft several times. Double...

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

Not trying to sound dumb, just being overly cautious. On Page 5-19 of the SM it says when installing the camshafts to align the K mark with the crankcase matting surface. Then there is a "TIP" that says "When piston #1 is before 71 degrees of TDC on the compression stroke, align the K mark with...

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

You made me feel better knowing I’m not the only one to ever make this mistake! In This YouTube how to he marks the chain down by the crank. It is around the 21:41 mark.

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

I screwed up and am looking for you guys to reassure me that what I believe my fix is correct. I had an exhaust valve out of spec and an intake on the very bottom end of range. When I went to pull shims I spaced it and missed the step of getting to top dead center and removed everything with the...

    Camshaft cap torque sequences

I do have a FSM but am not seeing a diagram. I do know on previous bikes I've had there was a sequence which is why I've asked here. I've double and triple checked the FSM for removal and install for Camshafts in section 5 and there is no diagram there.

    Camshaft cap torque sequences

Is there a proper sequence to torqueing the camshaft cap bolts? If its stated in the service manual I am not seeing it.

    Hi from Southern Indiana

Hi everyone! I live in southern Indiana just north of Louisville, KY. My current ride is a 2012 Kawasaki Concours. I got the chance back in June to do a demo ride on an Africa Twin and it has peaked my interest in an adventure bike. I liked the Africa Twin, but I really don't want to go back to...
