Grant seafood festival is this weekend

Would love to go, but the XTZ is still in the shop trying to get the issues with my front rims resolved - yes, two replacements so far. Complete Story... http://advtechguy.com/category/jimmy-fixit/

Brake pad life - what's to be expected

Re: Brake Pad Life On my '12 XTZ... Rear pads replaced at 18k miles - rough riding in CO, lots of down hill rear braking. Front pads are down to about 1/3 life at 79k miles - exclusively use front brake lever (linked brakes) unless I need to stop very quickly.

    Valve Adjust 2014 ES

Just finished my third valve adjustment on my '12... on the CCT, I have a block of wood that I drilled a hole the size of my socket so it won't slip out and I set (screw in) the plunger with the whole unit upside down - prevents it flying if I didn't get the clip set properly. 2x4 block on back...

    Tenere trip to Nova Scotia

I had a '99 RT... just didn't feel like spending all that money on a GS and having to deal with the costs associated with BMW Service Intervals until the warranty was up. The BMW RT is an excellent motorcycle, I just wanted to "feel" the ride - RT is like a Cadillac and the XTZ is more like a...

    Florida S10 gathering?

Count me in (camping or lunch). Went motorcycle camping weekend before Halloween up at Bloody Bluff Landing north of Apalachicola... weather is getting good!

Any idea where this part could be from?

Performing a valve adjustment and was mistaken before... the bushing is under the tank and there are two which attach the air box (top corners) to the frame.

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Starting my third service, 75k miles. A bit over, but weather for this week is rain = Great time for a check / tune.

Any idea where this part could be from?

Looks to me like a bushing from the front of the gas tank... one on each side of the forward mount to frame.

Where do you take your old rubber?

Check with your local Garbage Transfer Station (dump). Mine will take up to four tires (bicycle ~ semi) on any Saturday for free as long as you are a resident of the county.

Crush washers/gaskets and other schools of thought

I've reused my crush washers from the beginning making sure to not over torque. Been doing this for almost three years now and so far no leaks and 74k miles. P.S. I do keep a set on hand in case I find a leak has developed. :)

INNOVV K1 Moto dual camera DVR

So far - between getting my replaced rim trued and spokes tightened properly, another long story - I find it to be a very good unit. The video is great and the ease of use is awesome, install and forget until you need footage. I'm planning on leaving the GPS/Speaker mounted, just disconnect...

INNOVV K1 Moto dual camera DVR

In case anyone is interested... I've installed an INNOVV K1 Moto dual camera DVR (about $280) on my '12 XTZ. Wanted to have the convenience of recording all the time without having to remember to charge or mount a camera (or two). Link for your viewing pleasure...

    Tenere trip to Nova Scotia

I was originally planning on the ferry trip from Sydney until I saw the long time needed. Even thought about heading towards Labrador from Quebec City. Both options would have taken too much time from my plans. This is already on my list for my next trip. From pictures and stories I found...

    Tenere trip to Nova Scotia

I did put on a fresh Bridgestone Battle Wing BW502 for the rear and went with my trusty Shinko 705 on the front which already had 10k miles on it. The Shinko was replaced in MN (13,500 miles on it) and an oil/filter change. The Bridgestone will go about another 4k (12,000 miles usually). Next...

    Tenere trip to Nova Scotia

Yes good weather in Canada and nice and cool compared to FL (most days between 45 and 75 degrees). Had a blast. I used to live in Chico and Redding in the 80s and 90s... always had to make a trip to Gilroy for the Garlic Fest, sure miss that dark chocolate covered garlic. :) Jimmy.
