This +1. Does require infrequent re-application.

If the carb has a diaphram, check for holes, leaks, tears and proper seal (especially if it was disassembled/reassembled for cleaning).

I have a few melted spots on mine from the PO (up on the cowling of the bike, top of the instrument cluster) - Has Vstream touring shield installed. Been keeping a towel handy to toss up there if the bike sits in the sun for any period of time - but the thought of having something a little more...

I did the same thing. Looked like that was the way it should go on, but doesn't. :) I would recommend as well!
