Why the GS is a better bike.

Yep ... I am sure if you scan ANY motorcycle model specific site you will find owners who have had issues and may one-offs. THAT is what the model specific sites are there for ... to support the riders and provide help with questions and technical issues. But man some of what you posted I...

Why the GS is a better bike.

You betcha! The S10 is without a doubt the dollar bargain! Much like the Kawasaki Councours 1000 was for years in the sport touring class!! Extremely had to argue with the bike selection from a dollar perspective. Any BMW rider would be a fool to argue otherwise.

Why the GS is a better bike.

Well said! Thank you! And if you will notice most or the folks here NOT bashing BMW are also NOT bashing any other bike! Let me repeat it again ... I truly believe most bikes are pretty darn good today! Sure some have issues but most all are pretty good. And I totally understand why if...

Why the GS is a better bike.

REALLY???? Maybe its me but this is really a stretch comparing BMW Corp. as a whole and suggesting it represents the motorcycle division. But if you read the total on Page 114 the net 2013 cost of sales was reduced. And at the corp. level is really is all about the bottom line. Also, on...

Why the GS is a better bike.

I agree and honestly why I wanted to buy a 2012 GSA before the LC version was introduced. In additional to wanting a oil/air cooled "traditional" boxer I did not want to risk having to deal with any "first production year" issues. And it seems today a lot of bikes and cars have them. Yes...

Why the GS is a better bike.

And if I had YOUR experience with BMW I would feel exactly as you do and that is your option and opinion. Some of us have had a totally different experience with BMW ... at least I for one have. AND while I have had GREAT experience with Yamaha motorcycles my dealer experience has not been...

+1 .. .what he said. Honest ... on the RT site, the advrider site and the MOA site. Very little brand bashing.

Totally agree and if I were in your situation I'd be looking hard at Yamaha too. I had a great Yamaha Tech in NJ when I lived there and would not hesitate having him service anything!

Why the GS is a better bike.

Well put ... and when you have someone doing a 5 hour valve adjustment (YES .. that is the time it takes on the S10) knowing how complex it must be ... not trusting the tech would certainly keep me up nights. WIth BMW's or Harleys for that matter you know when you bring your bike in they have...

Why the GS is a better bike.

While I agree it seems like they ALL do. I could go down the list on well known recalls. And when you think about it it really makes sense as no matter how much testing and planning the manufacturers do until they bikes are "real world" tested they don't know how they will perform over the...

Why the GS is a better bike.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that since 2000 (14 years) on 5 different BMW's (R1100RT, R1150GS, K1200LT, R1200RT and R1200GSA) I have never had an issue and never been stranded. Never had any surging and no FD failures. In addition my riding buddies have never had and major failures...
