Looking for your wisdom on panniers

This is true. Pushing down is my SOP when closing these cases. When riding, touring, packing, gearing up, everything has a procedure. Calamity will ensue if not followed! :D

Looking for your wisdom on panniers

I have OEM and with a couple of basic cheap tricks they are fine. No, they aren't going to take the hits that the Touratechs, above, can handle. I have some cash stashed away for replacing the OEMs when I smash them but they've taken all the (not insignificant) abuse I've given them so far. If...

Looking for your wisdom on panniers

From what you describe... I would take into consideration not just the width of the panniers, but also how closely they tuck to the bike. Some manufacturer's mounting racks hug the bike closer than others.

Tablet based Nav, Non-Garmin / TomTom / (NAV)

I've just started looking at the Samsung Active Tab 3, as my ancient phablet is starting to get flakey. No real findings to report yet though. There are various Amazon knockoffs for 2/3 the price but with mixed reviews. I'm looking for reliability. Still investigating...

    PIAA Driving Lights

Clearwater Ericas can be purchased with mount that's similar to the PIAAs. Way better lights than PIAA.

    Crash bar, Rumbux, Altrider ?

OP is in EU. Last I saw, AltRider is still selling them there. Maybe just leftover stock? But yeah avail there not here. I'm happy with the AltRider lower crash bars. I don't have the uppers; and it sounds like you are wanting those

    ACD Skidplate…..ummmmm

...until your next oil change. Your mechanics' methods just doesn't sound like good practice. Agree on needing to see some pics. I'm just not visualizing the issue. I had no problems mounting my ACD.

Greetings all ….from a new member in central Maine.

Love it up in Central Maine. Last rode around there two years ago. Wife and I did Baxter SP etc a few months ago in the SUV. Congrats and yeah you have a good lineup in your garage. I also had a Yamaha sport tourer but not the FJ. The newer Connies interest me but for now the Super Ten has...

    No power to left headlight

Did you *test* both sides with the same meter / same time and conditions? Swap known good bulb from good side to bad? I don't think any Gen 2 had wiring chaffing issues / recalls. Interesting.

    2013 vs 2018

Interesting point about the stiffer spring, especially if you are going to load up. But you'd probs still be money ahead with the 2018 + new spring IF that was really important to you.. I don't think the 2018 spring is a "weak spot"... just maybe got revamped later. If the 2018 has aftermarket...

    Tips for cleaning windshield?

It's been around forever; got turned on to it almost 25 years ago. Kinda pricy but good.

    2013 vs 2018

Assuming the OP knows that 2013 is Gen 1 and 2018 is Gen 2. That's a big gap in cash, but I'd be going Gen 2. Gen 1ers love their bikes (rightfully so) but if I'm buying one I'd go Gen 2.
