Yeah that's why I wanted ring/gas cap mounted. But wasn't an option with the two I tried due to my handlebars hitting the tank bag in the mounted position. I did have a magnetic cortech bag on my weestrom 650 for 45K mikes. I didn't really notice a scratching problem.
