I have covered this before but the actual size of the Super Tenere shims are not 9.48, They are 9.5. I realize about everyone uses aftermarket shims that are 9.48 and I have not heard of any problems doing so. But if you purchase your shims from Yamaha they will be 9.5
Right out of a Super...
How often do you change oil and filter?
I relate a lot of oil consumption problems to high milage oil changers.
I for one can't stand dirty oil and I change usually no more than 4,000 miles.
Guys can say what they want about my often changes but with 383,000 miles on one of the known oil...
Great write up Kith
You sure put on the miles.
Do you ride in the Iron Butt National? I think that I read it starts in Iowa this year. I hope to make it to the start to see all the riders.
When you remove the "pumpkin" the shaft will come out with it. Do not remove any circlips, the driveshaft will just pull out of the rearend. It might come out kind of hard for the first time. Then the splines that you will see are lubed by the rearend oil. No need to grease them even though the...
I also understand the need to downsize as we get older. If a 70-year-old guy on an 890R wants to ride , We will do all we can to help you through. Just don't get hurt.
There is a lot to being on compatible bikes though. If a 50 year old T7 rider wants to ride along on this ride and shows up at...
By Super Tenere I really meant to say---" Beast" , Real full sized Adventure bikes. I have ridded trails like the X with T7s and such and it is not a compatible ride.
There is a small bike ride in the Black Hills every year If I wanted to ride with them I would bring my XCW.
This ride is for...
Thanks for volunteering Abercrombie.
Actually, I don't see any need for any real organizing, We pick a place like a restaurant or gas station and a time then meet up and start riding. Be prepared to camp along the trail, eat at camp some, drink some "coffee" and have fun.
Eating two or three...
I should say, The BDRX does not use any Trails in the Black Hills. It is all on gravel or Jeep roads. You do not need the trail pass to ride any of it. There is over 3,800 miles of roads and trails with 700 miles of real trails that require the permit. The BDRX does enter the Custer State Park...
July would be great ----BUT--- I usually can't wait that long to go for a good ride. I'm looking at trying to be out there around May 18th - 24th. The trails officially open May 15th.
I'll try to be back out in July if that's the chossen date.
I'm open on the dates except for early June. I'm expecting my 7th grandbaby about then.
EDIT My wife just said I have to be here the third week of June also. But this ride sure doesn't have to depend on me being there. Whatever works for the majority is most important.
I see you have hard...
