Poor phrasing on my part: the issue is the bike was too upright, risking (which happened) a right-side tip over. The Soupy's sidestand allows adjustable length, allowing sufficient left lean.

All the above counsel on preload, etc is helpful and accurate. My story: I ground down the stock on my 2014 ES - still too much lean I bought a Gen I steel kickstand - better, but still too much lean I finally did what I should have done from the start: bought this and fixed the problem...

When I bought by 2014 ES, it came with a Two Brothers Black Series exhaust. I finally put it on today and did a short ride: not as loud as I feared, nice steady sound under 3k rpm, but really opens up when you crack it! Some popping on decel, but not too bad. Pleased, we'll see how it wears...

You are right: I did the same thing - the two measure as identical, but the effect, for me, was as I described.

My 2014 ES was absolutely scary with the stock stand: stood just a bit off vertical, very easy to tip over to the right. I filed the aluminum one down, thought that would work, fiddled with pre-load, softness, hardness, etc. Even carried a cut-down walking stick to stabilize it. Then, one day...

IMHO, other than Going to the Sun Road, is the Many Glacier Valley on the East side of the park - US 89 north out of St. Marys, turn west to the Many Glacier Valley just before Babb. Beautiful glacier-carved valley, 100 year old lodge, on and on!
