Thought I'd share something I installed today - a 4 outlet, ignition switched distribution box. It plugs into the aux light connector, and is switched via a relay on the ignition signal that is present in that connector. Really quite neat and tidy, gives me four outlets, individually fused (with micro blade fuses) and it just plugs in.
Currently I'm running an SAE connector for my air compressor, and my heated grips, but i will be adding spotlights and possibly another accessory socket (that can deliver 10A). Spotlights consume about 1.2A, heated grips about 4. SAE connector is fused for 15A, but my compressor uses about 7. I will be unlikely to be using high drain appliances from the SAE and extra accessory socket at the same time, so should be fine to keep it under the 20A the circuit is fused for.
I used a Sumitomo MT090 plug to take power from the aux light port, which I got from here: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09TWMGGD7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details . I see a lot of Y-splitters on ebay too which could be used.
This is the distribution box i used - it has a built in relay that can handle 20A, which coincidentally is exactly what the Aux light circuit is fused for. Inside each outlet is fused with a mini blade fuse.
This is where i mounted it - under the right hand upper fairing. There's a small plastic separator between the "bays" - i used a soldering iron to melt some small slots, which i put zip ties through to secure the distribution box.
Overall I'm really happy with it. Very neat and tidy and serves as a good based to install other electric upgrades off.
