I don't know....I ride with a lot of ADV types and many of them just pop up like prairie dogs as soon as the tire hits dirt. They stand way too much in my opinion, at least for the casual riding we're doing most of the time. I have a small dual sport for riding hard core stuff, so I rarely ride the big bike in much more than non maintained gravel roads, and most of the time there's no real reason to stand for that stuff (In my opinion)!
But .... but .... but how will you look like a cool, "I know what I'm doing on a big bike" ADV rider?!?
Seriously, I think people should try both, learn how to manage both and pick what works. With one HUGE exception:
If you have hard cases, standing will NEVER let you put your leg down in front of a hard case and have it broken. If you sit, that's always a possibility with hard cases, i.e. the bike starts to slide down from under you, you put your leg down, the hard case clips it.
I've had close calls with it myself when I'm tired and go "I'll just sit for a bit".
YMMV of course, but it's worth thinking about.
