Like any Lithium ion, if damaged they will burn long and hard. Same reason you don't want a significant crash in a Tesla.yikes ! so your saying these things are known to start fires when not even plugged into anything ?

My battery pack has a rubber padded case, which I store in another pouch, under my (high mounted) seat where it fits perfectly. I feel pretty safe with it there.
