I realize this is probably really great advice and I have those tools but I've now put on 116,000 miles on the two Tenere' that I've owned without doing that. Reading other horror stories about spokes on Tenere' I just hate to change my method now. Pinging with a small wrench and adjusting by sound has worked for me so far.

Checked the spokes on both bikes. Torque wrench is way more accurate than pinging each spoke with a screwdriver and attempting to discern a difference ....

5mm long allen and 6NM torque are your friends. Ball head helps with access.

::026:: I've tried the torque wrench and it just feels a bit too much for me on that alum rim. I prefer pinging and tightening accordingly.

I think if you are planning on using a torque wrench, buy a carbon fibre bicycle torque wrench, small handle, and 2-6nm max range, only a suggestion!

I rode Wednesday and Thursday. Great stuff!

This is the entire route from Wednesday. Up top there in Kentucky we rode http://www.harlancountytrails.com/littleshepherdtrail.php Little Shepherd Trail. How cool! A 1 1/4 lane of asphalt on the spine of a ridge! Runs between KY 119 and US 421. There is a 12 mile gravel option which we rode too.

The ride home from Knoxville via some of the Foothills Pkw then Deals Gap which I had almost all to myself. The observant will see Max speed on day 2 of 136... I know I didn't do that but I may have left the app in the pause mode between two stops so when I turned it on perhaps it calculated the 136. I don't know! The app is Rever with the last r being backwards.
Great stuff!

Heated Russell Day Long. Ride. Repeat. Some folks don't like the looks of the RDL, my butt says it looks just fine.

Finished my trip home Friday. Fort Worth, TX to Arlington, VA. Went through Deal's Gap and the Cherokee Forest. About 800 miles with only one headlight working, apparently. I posted in the Eastern Region forum about doing valves. They need to be checked asap. I'll be reading and searching a lot more for wind management ideas now that I've actually got miles on the bike.

Installed Altrider crash bars and SW-Motech skid plate. ::008::

Also flattened seat with the short rubber bumpers and installed SW_Motech handlebar risers. We'll see if this helps with the numbness after several hours in the saddle.

Yesterday I finally mounted the winglets from my totaled '12 on my '15. They were remarkably undamaged despite everything they were attached to having been snapped off. Anyway, had a chilly start to the ride this morning that provided the first back-to-back comparison for me of "no winglets" vs. "winglets." They do make a difference!
