Zumo 396 mount suggestion

Ordered a Zumo 396 and although I've searched, can't find anything specific on attaching the unit to the windscreen accessory bar.
Ram has an old school u-bolt style that goes down to 1\2" dia. with an adapter and on the other end Tourtech has one for $ 175, that's nearly 1\2 the price of the GPS.
I know this is a pretty elementary question, but so far not much info out there.
Thanks.
Jack

I have mine on the handle bar. Easy to reach, totally stable, low enough not to block speedometer, and out of direct line of sight. I want to see it but not distract me.

That's more like what I'm looking for.
Does the handlebar mount require an oversize Ram mount, because I have one left over from my Vmax and it's not big enough.

As far as I remember it was just a standard u-bolt ram and double ram connector. The Garmin has a standard ball mount. I would go look but it is dark and 20 degrees out.

Ram makes a unit B 367-U that is a 1" ball and it goes into the handlebar center clamp using replacement 8 mm bolts. Are these bolts on the S10 8mm? I'm liking the looks of this and there was a thread on here about it, but I wasn't able to recapture it.

I am also looking for one that mounts on the windscreen bar. I have Heli bars and the handle bar mount won't fit in the center on the handle bars.

I mounted mine this way, but the vibrations made the screen unviewable, so I bought the bracing bars on here but for me at least, it was not satisfactory, so I am going to mount on the LHS mirror mount or the centre of the handlebars.

By the way, if anyone wants to buy the bracing struts, contact me.

Really like the 396. Huge improvement from previous Nuvis. Mounted on the bars using Garmin provided Ram hardware. Rock solid, easy to use and read.

I did like my gps mounted to the handlebars but ended up moving it to the windscreen bar and adding the stiffening braces. When mounted in the center of the handle bar I found it awkward reaching for the abs button and ignition key. Yes, I know it sounds trivial.

Hi there, it's a bit pricy but I mounted mine via a Touratech mount and optional offset bracket. It's lockable, very stable and vibration free. Best of all I can see the turn signal indicators.

Mount before installing offset bracket. It was driving me nuts not being able to see all the gauge or signal indicators:

I have been riding it with this bracket installed for a few thousand miles. I have to say Touratech did it right!! It's mounted in such a spot that keeps my peripheral vision in the safe zone when taking split second glances at the screen.

I also purchased this slick custom shade for the GPS:
