We plan to spend at least a couple weeks just East of Yuma in January. Anybody here who could lead me into trouble out there? I need at least gravel with two tire tracks and not much sand.

Strong folks required who can pick my bike up if we did not agree on what I am able to ride! Beer provided after we get back to civilization!

I thought @holligl went out there each winter. I know it's not the same place, but hey, it's Arizona, not a lot of bad places to ride.

I thought I had responded before, but not seeing it. We are east of Phoenix so it is a ways to Yuma. It would be easy to meet half ways a few times, or catch you coming/going. We will probably get there a week into the new year. My wife is talking about us flying onto Hawaii for a week towards the end of Jan. Personally the S10 is a great AZ bike, goes 90% of the places I want to go. I need something smaller for real technical stuff, due to my skill limitations.

Only ride occasional two up though..

Can't you bring both?

Native yuman here. I’m sorry, I’m a noob when it comes to technical riding. Bought the S10 for on road fun. Traded in an R1M. I don’t know how I’d be able to help, but hey.

Sounds like a good time to learn. It's probably better to ride off road with another rider, in case things go bad. But, I'm a pavement princess . . . . so what do I know?

You can find scenery and terrain off pavement that is the heart of AZ in my opinion. That's why I love on and off pavement riding there. The biggest issue is dealing with herds of side by sides. I do like riding with company for the added safety, as well as solo in areas where there is some traffic or at least cell service.

Plans changed so spending time in the Tucson area. Not going as far as Yuma. Oh well.

That is a little closer to me, once I get there. What part of Tuscon?
