As a point of interest.. I just now called Ride Now Powersports and spoke with service writer. He tells me he talked to Yamaha and they *may* be doing a recall on these, but he has to get with manager. Probably BS
I know its a bit more of a haul, but check with Nash Motorports. They have three locations in the Phoenix area, and the owner is still very hands on.I took it to dealer in Tucson, they kept it for 3 days before they could even look at it. I told them about the brake switches and they 'diagnosed' a front switch and supposedly ordered a new switch. Brake light was on when I got home. I ended up spraying some silicone on front switch and blasting it with air from compressor and it worked fine until yesterday. However that was a month ago and when I called yesterday the service writer said he 'hadn't heard' from Yamaha and would call them. Ride Now Powersports in Tucson is not highly recommended by me. Of course I haven't heard from them. I'm going to try the dealer in Sierra Vista and see if I have any better luck. Problem has pushed me to buy a YES plan from Jerold at D&H. Anybody got a dealer recommendation that's within striking distance of Douglas, AZ?
Dealership said its jacked up 4-500 hundred if you wait till the end of the initial warranty. BS?The YES warranty is good, many riders on here have used it. You can cancel the warranty your dealer sold you, get a refund and buy it somewhere else. I would wait until near the end of the factory warranty to buy the extended warranty anyway.
I did too. Sounds like big st.charles bent me over on the warranty.I got the 4 year Y.E.S. on my leftover 2016. Normally I don't but I got bit pretty hard on my Ford Fusion on an issue that their extended warranty would have covered so I guess it's just insurance. As long as it's a factory warranty and not some aftermarket thing I'm OK with paying the extra bucks for it. I paid more than $400 bucks for it though so that stinks.. ::005::
Yes, BS. While the extended warranty cost might go up during the year, it's because it's going up across the board, not just because your initial warranty period is ending. Call the folks at D&H, they'll shoot straight with you. http://www.dandhcycle.com/index.htmlDealership said its jacked up 4-500 hundred if you wait till the end of the initial warranty. BS?
He might jack up the price, Yamaha does not.Dealership said its jacked up 4-500 hundred if you wait till the end of the initial warranty. BS?
Hmmm; more misinformation the finance person fed me.He might jack up the price, Yamaha does not.
Call D&H Cycles and buy from them. Best price, only if you call. Great dealer and good people.
It costs the same no matter when you buy it. You must buy while the original 12 month warranty is still in effect.
I would find out if you can cancel it, then walk into the dealer with what D&H would charge and tell them you will not cancel it if they give you some parts that equal that difference. They would still win in the $$, although not as much. When I walked into the dealer to buy my bike, they wanted close to $900 if I recall right. I had printed out the price D&H was selling it at, and they ended up matching the price.Im sure I can cancel the warranty not sure what I will get charged to cancel. Question is buying another.
Will make some calls.
New buyers beware!!!
I bought a new CRV a few years ago and the dealer tried to sell me an aftermarket warranty for $2200. I researched online and bought an extended factory warranty (7year/120K mile) for $1000 from a dealer in MA. Same thing with a new Tacoma truck, a dealer out in Kansas beat the local selling dealer by 50%. Look around.Stealer did discount some when I bauked at the original quote. Should have been my que to go for more. Getting ready to buy a new car will challenge them on an extended warranty.
