I'll give them a call. I got Yamaha on the phone today and was told I've got until 9/29/18 remaining on warranty. I'll call D&H tomorrow and see what they say. I'm quite aways away from a Yamaha dealer to do the inspection for warranty transfer. I also saw in the YES warranty on Ebay (previous post on page 1 of this thread) it wasn't good for Florida.
I've never heard of having to do a warranty inspection. Maybe to transfer an extended warranty, I don't know. D&H will.

Just put my check in the mail to D&H....tried to get a match locally.....but to quote the local dealers "I can't match that, and I'd jump on it at that price." Gerald at D&H was great to deal with! He told me to send more business his way sooooo I recommend them!

Can someone please post the contact info for the YES people at Yamaha? I've been trying to get them to send me paperwork on my YES coverage since I bought my S10 last spring and having no success :/

I would think any dealer could look up your Vin # and print off your info.

Dealer will definitely be the 1st POC - also talk to the dealer you purchased the YES from.

Me too. Gerald was incredibly helpful even though I waited until the very last minute. Their price is excellent and for 48 months of piece of mind, it just seems silly not to. Either way, enjoy the ride.

I bought my YES warranty at the point of sale last week. I need to get the paperwork still.

Wait, why was my YES warranty $995? This is my first Yamaha eligible for a warranty. I'm looking right at my dealer invoice Y.E.S., $995.

Did I get scammed?

I'm rapidly getting less excited about the YES warranty, this is the same kind language found in the absolute bottom of barrel automotive junk warranties:
https://www.yamaha-motor-yes.com/globalassets/terms--conditions/48-state_mtsp_11_0825-effective-12_2011sampleonly.pdf

"the customer will be
required to authorize the Yamaha Dealer
to tear down the vehicle for diagnostic
evaluation. If there is not a mechanical
breakdown covered by this Y.E.S. Contract,
the customer is responsible for the costs of
diagnosis and teardown. "

So basically the dealer says they "believe" it's something that requires a big teardown. Oops, it wasn't that. We'll need $1,800 to hand the bike back to you.

The YES warranty is good, many riders on here have used it. You can cancel the warranty your dealer sold you, get a refund and buy it somewhere else. I would wait until near the end of the factory warranty to buy the extended warranty anyway.

I'd like to believe that, but it does contain the worst warranty gotcha possible under U.S. law. Still not enough for me to drop it.

Standard line in a warranty. No company is going to absorb the cost of teardown for something that turns out to be completely the customers doing.

I also would cancel the warranty. You paid way too much. When I bought my bike, I had a copy of the website and cost of the lower priced "YES" warranty. They wanted me to pay what you did. Told them wasn't going to happen, and either charge me the same as this dealer, or I will buy it at that other dealer. They matched the price after that.

As far as buying it later, don't know if it really makes a difference, unless you plan to sell the bike early.

I plan to keep the bike for a very long time as my daily commuter doing 12,000 - 15,000 miles per year. So the warranty seems to make sense.
I'll do some homework first, but if it's the same I'm cancelling the YES warranty and re-buying it for $500 less.

Not going to lie, even though I can afford it, I am extremely disenchanted with Yamaha's business practices right now. I shouldn't need to worry about monitoring them this way.

By the way it's not a standard line at all. It's the one overriding hallmark of junk warranties designed to pit buyers against dealers. My Mopar unlimited mile lifetime warranty doesn't have anything like this. I've read every line in excruciating detail and verified it verbally with Mopar. Their escape is that if I blow the motor and replacement is $12,000 for example, and NADA value is $10,000 on the vehicle then they cut me a check for $10,000 and the warranty is terminated. Even if it has 250,000 miles 15 years from now, and that's Dodge for pete's sake.

It’s not Yamaha it’s the individual dealerships just like dodge. I’ve actually had dodge cooperation tell me to pick up my truck from my local dealership and take to another one after two weeks of runaround with them. Same with my Yamaha it won’t ever see my local dealership again. Cooperations and dealerships are two different things sometimes sad I know.

This is definitely a profit opportunity on the part of the dealers and not Yamaha. When I bought the YES a couple/few years ago it was roughly $400.

Timely reminder that this thread got bumped to the top -- my 1 year anniversary is 09/16/18 so I only had a few weeks to get this purchased.

D&H still sells 48 month coverage for < $400. I'll be dropping my check in the mail today, I'm going to keep this bike a while, $400 is cheap insurance.

Mine expires the 29th of this month and I'm still up in the air if I want to get an extended warranty. I suppose it would be good if I ever sold the bike. I do most of the maintenance myself, so I suppose that would probably void the YES contract.

Nope, doesn't void the warranty doing your own maintenance. They have to prove you did not do proper maintenance to not cover it.

The cost of the extended warranty for the four years is cheap.

Yeah, guess I'll go ahead and get one. Having the flashing cruise control light problem again.
The flashing cruise light is usually one of the brake switches. The front one is really hard to diagnose because it can go intermittent in such short pulses that you won't see the tail light come on.

I took it to dealer in Tucson, they kept it for 3 days before they could even look at it. I told them about the brake switches and they 'diagnosed' a front switch and supposedly ordered a new switch. Brake light was on when I got home. I ended up spraying some silicone on front switch and blasting it with air from compressor and it worked fine until yesterday. However that was a month ago and when I called yesterday the service writer said he 'hadn't heard' from Yamaha and would call them. Ride Now Powersports in Tucson is not highly recommended by me. Of course I haven't heard from them. I'm going to try the dealer in Sierra Vista and see if I have any better luck. Problem has pushed me to buy a YES plan from Jerold at D&H. Anybody got a dealer recommendation that's within striking distance of Douglas, AZ?
