Yamalube Fully Synthetic Oil or Semi Synthetic?

Hi there,

Can you please help me, I'm about to change oil in my 2017 ST what different it makes if I put Fully Synthetic or Semi Synthetic? Thanks

Or which is the better for my bike?

Thanks ! I'll put semi then, I just wanted to double check, at Yamaha they put semi last time, I've checked the invoice, but they put too much oil in it, I'd better do it myself,

3.4 litres?

Don’t get hung up on the amount you put in, as it can be anywhere between 3.4L and 3.6L (usually)

The engine actually holds over 4L, but an oil and filter change is recommended at 3.4L, as oil remains within various places. If you obsessively drain the old oil by working to get as much as possible out, by pumping the bike back and forward, leaning over beyond the normal side stand lean etc, 3.4L won’t be enough.

I stick 3.5L in and then forget it until the next oil change. I don’t even bother checking the sight glass at oil changes, as I know I’ve just put 3.5L in.

Just sight glass it about every 2k miles after.
