My dealership is offering the new Super Tenere for $12,499 on the Yamaha Priority Delivery Program. This is an all-inclusive price unless you live in Texas and you would then have taxes and registration fees. I will have these on our website shortly.

I sold a considerable amount of FJR's during the same type of program so we are definitely well known.
If I can help any of you let me know via personal e-mail (listed below) and I will take care of those personally.

Keep in mind this program ends March 31, 2011!

Thanks,

Tony

Hello Tony,

I met you a while back in Hot Springs Arkansas during the ISRA meet. I was one of two brand new FJR riders and we sort of brought the house down with our sport touring machines, surrounded by Yamaha cruisers. The other gentleman (not that I'm claiming to be a gentleman, that's for others to decide) IIRC was Glenn (gr8eyes). We had a nice conversation and it was a pleasure to meet you. Was quite a while ago, probably 2003.

I did not purchase my 03 FJR from you, but I can assure the others on this board that you are one of the good guys ;)

Hey Bob,

I remember it well. I see you have a bike on order also.

We come out to Colorado every year to ride and I am really looking forward to riding this bike out there.

The past couple of years we have come out in the Porsche and then rented Jeeps. I think this year I am going to bring my Toyota FJ and pull the Tenere on a trailer so I will have both out there. Maybe we can catch up with you and ride some.

Best regards,

Tony

+1...Though I've never met Tony, I do know of his reputation on the FJR boards and if he didn't live a gazillion miles away...I would not hesitate to give him a call abut an S10.

Generally we stay in Vail if we are going to be there a while. You can rent a condo for next to nothing in August which is when we normally come. We try to make it the last week so the kids are back in school.

If we don't stay there our next favorite place is Lake City. The roads in that area are incredible and there tends to not be any police! ;D I can't say that for Highway 160 though, I got a large safe driving award this past year on that highway. :'(

:question:Are you selling motorcycles to out of state owners? I am in California. I am assuming the Super Tenere is a 50 state bike, i.e. no differences for the California model. How do you do the deal, Texas registration or some kind or ferry permit to get it to California for registration?

toompine, people from all over are going to Texas to order this bike. We have a guy here from the Seattle area who has one on order, he is MarkJenn. I don't know if the bike is going to be 50 state legal, but it should be.
You will just have to pay your CA taxes when you get back into your state.

I am selling to out of state customers, but unfortunately a California resident can't take a non-California bike into their state. :(

You would need to check with your DMV to see what requirements they have, but I am fairly sure that you can't buy one out of state.

I read elsewhere here or ADVrider that all bikes are now 50 state compliant. The volumes do not justify making two models of each and I think it make the registration hassles a lot easier for the California folks that buy out of state.

I bought my 2005 FJR from Tony. I flew out to visit a friend in Fayetteville and he was kind enough to trailer the new bike up from Texarkana to meet me in Mena. (He's now working out of Longview TX). It was a completely pleasant transaction and we've since kept in touch now and then. I'm getting my S10 from Tony and will spend 10-days or so riding it back to WA. This is a great way to get to know a new bike.

Tony is a true enthusiast who also happens to be a dealer. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I've been watching to see if this was going to be the case - it might be a factor for a lot of CA buyers as most of the CA dealers appear to be sticking pretty close to list and above. Has anyone seen anything official from Yamaha on this? I haven't see anything. (As a downside, if there is a single 50-state bike, it probably means that everybody is going to get evap canisters.)

I am being told today that the bike is NOT 50 state compliant......

I think the Republic of Kalifornia has some screwball CARB stuff that has to happen that Yamaha doesn't want to certify on every bike....... Not sure though.

The Strom 1K has four sets of 6 maps for use in the ECU.

Europe, US, The rest of the world, Republic of Kalifornia.
It has four different model designations as well from memory. As above.

Republic of Kalifornia may get a special price, you never know

Cheers
Graham

We live in California but purchased a 2008 Kawasaki Versys before it was in CA and it was only ~45 state legal. (CA, MA, NY, .....) I had a business address in Idaho so it was legal. ;) The the only difference in the 50 state legal 2009 Versys was the Fuel Evaporation Charcoal Canister. Big cities like Charcoal canisters because gas vapors contribute to photochemical smog in the sun. My charcoal canisters always seem to "fall off" anyway ::), so who cares.

I don't know if the European S10 models for 2010 and 2011 have the canisters, but with many makes the European models have Canisters. Odds are that all the bikes will be 50 state legal. As stated by someone else, for the size of the production run it is too much paperwork to certify both a 50 state and non-50 state bike compared the minor cost of hanging a charcoal canister and a few tubes on the bike.

A dealer telling someone that there will be 2 versions is likely a dealer trying to keep the customer buying local.

My Santa Clara CA dealer gave me an OTD price of $14,200 with CA's high sales tax.

Wouldn't this depend if it was a CA dealer or one located in one of the other 49 states? ;)

Congrats on your SuperT! What color?
